Reviews for Quadratec 4 Bike Folding Bike Rack for 2" Receiver Hitch
I had to look at a lot of reviews to find a rack that i thought would fit and extend past my Smittybuilt aftermarket tire carrier with the little Y-shaped spinner that holds the wheel on. This one works great. It was helpful that someone put the distance from the last mounting hole to the vertical portion up on this listing. Well built, all of the hardware was there. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. I'm happy with the purchase.
Rock solid
Looks good
Functional
Does block out the back up camera in the center of the spare
Nice rack. Easy to use and transports 3 bikes well.
This is an outstanding product, and frankly THE ONLY BIKE RACK you should buy for your Jeep. Quadratec's customer service was fantastic, and the rack arrived fast and well packaged.
Here are the top five reasons why I love this rack:
1) The rack tilts all the way down, with or without my bikes on it, allowing my tailgate to swing fully open, and providing me with full trunk access, whereas the majority of other racks I've seen would have to be removed if I wanted to access my tailgate / trunk.
2) The rack tucks in nearly flush with my spare tire when the tailgate is closed and the rack is in position, allowing me to fit my jeep in my garage without removing the rack, and ensuring that my bikes aren't hanging off the back of my jeep a mile out into traffic.
3) The four pairs of bike cradles on the rack arms are rubberized, as are the straps, to gently accommodate my bikes, and the positioning of the cradles is fully customizable. You can actually remove one or more pairs of cradles and space out your bikes more. I've pulled off one pair of cradles, and our three bikes sit on the arms with lots of space in between them to ensure they don't rub against each other. The bike rack arms themselves are wide enough to support the bikes, but narrow enough to make loading and unloading them a snap.
4) The rack is hitch mounted, which is the only way to go. Not only does it put zero extra weight on the tailgate, but you can also pick up Quadratec's locking hitch bolt (which I highly recommend) in order to secure the rack to the jeep and prevent theft. The hitch bolt passes through your hitch receiver, and threads right into the rack itself, ensuring that the rack will not wobble at all (there's even another little knob that you tighten to further prevent any wobbling). Once installed, this thing is rock solid.
5) The value-to-price ratio is unmatched. You get a heavy duty rack, that's perfectly and thoughtfully designed to suit your Wrangler's unique design, for only $150 US!
I don't use this a lot, but it is much nicer than trying to find a spot for bikes on the inside of the vehicle as we go on vacation. It's a bit hard to fit all four bikes on (it is somewhat like putting a puzzle together making sure handle bars and peddles are in the right spot), but it works because I still have access to the cargo area with this type of rack.
As advertised, works great , sturdy and durable, I am able to pull pin and lower rack to allow use of tailgate. I would recommend for jeep owners.
customer service was great I was shipped a 2 bike rack by mistake and with one call the correct 4 bike rack was sent overnight, the return of the incorrect item was made easy by customer service also.
Great product and great customer service, thank you
...a little doing yet fit perfectly on my JLU and functions well. Took 3 bikes past weekend. Great price too.
Quality product. Well made. Great for use on the Jeep Wrangler. My son now using it on his Grand Cherokee without issues
I'm very impressed !
I honestly had lower expectations for this rack. I is VERY solid in the receiver and doesn't sway at all. I can grab the rack and pull on it and the jeep moves not the rack. The posts are close together and I can hang my wife bike on it without a cross bar adaptor. I am sure each bike is different.
I was trying to decide between this one and the versa hitch version (I have a versa hitch). What sold me on this one was the fact you have full access to the back. I have a soft top and I found in the winter when skiing (using a hang on ski rack), you want full access to the back of your Jeep. I have a Thule ski rack and it bolts to the racks main post nicely. It sits solid but not a perfect fit. The rack is more than 90 deg from the main post. The front mounting bar sits in the cradle but he rear bar has a gap. I'm going to add some pipe insulation to take up the gap on mine.
This rack is solid and I am very very pleased.
Easy to install, was really happy with how sturdy it is. Made by someone who has a jeep and rides bikes, cause it works the way you would want it to
