Reviews for Quadratec 4 Bike Folding Bike Rack for 2" Receiver Hitch
Really nice rack which is thoughtfully designed. For the JL, far better than any of the more prominent brands which are designed for mass appeal. It is tight fitting and secure. It was easy to install too.
Although a little heavy, I can actually tilt the rack with bikes on it for full access.
Why not 5 stars, a few minor things:
- the wire holding on to the retainer for one of the pins is too close to the pivot point, gets caught and after 2 used can already see it will fail soon
- there is a screw used to tighten the main support bar. It isn’t secured with anything it loose. In transit or if accidentally left off, easy to loose. Suggest setting up so it can’t be completely removed.
- it would be great if you could remove one or more of the bike positions. I only need three and the fourth just gets in the way.
- As expected it does get in the way of the backup camera, and the JL beeps while backing up
Overall, best option I can find. I would buy it again and would recommend it to friends.
This rack is really steady, once it’s setup and solid, it stays that way. The only downside I see is that there is no way to keep the bikes from swinging into each other. Then, it would be perfect.
So far, I have nothing but absolute praise for this product. I've slammed some of the other products I've purchased here, but this one is impressive. The other favorable reviews pertaining to this bike rack are spot on. This appears to be a quality product. I use it with the Curt 13392 "2" inch receiver. Absolutely no rattling. Easy install (although I'd suggest using your own wrenches as opposed to the ones they provide). The only gripe I have is that the retaining pins/bracket seem a little flimsy. Other than that, this is a solid product that is easy to operate. Opening the trunk is extremely quick and easy with the drop down option. Time will tell if it wears down but as of now, I'd have to say this product is an excellent value and very well engineered and built, for the most part, with quality parts. Two thumbs up on this one.
Works well as advertised on my 2009 4-door Sahara with back up camera. Obstruction of back-up camera’s view is acceptable/manageable, and I can ignore the constant beeping alarm when backing up.
The only reason I am withholding the final star from 5-star is that I wish they were able to make the system a “parallelogram”. That way, you could lower the rack with loaded bikes for tailgate access, while the bikes land perpendicularly on the ground while still loaded (as opposed to hitting the ground in an angle).
Doesn't fit with my 35x12.50 tire on the back. I have a 1.5" spacer on the factory mount. Hope this helps someone. Looks like it would do the job, though.
Bike rack is great. Easy to assemble. Solid construction. Easy to use.
For the $ its a deal. However the bottom tilt pin already broke off the tether. Still functional just had to reattach it . Easy enough to take on and off for the occasional bike ride.
I guess when all else fails, read the instructions. I put the receiver part onto the upright upside down and it wouldn't fold down. I think the instructions should be a bit different because by putting the receiver part into the receiver on my jeep first I had a solid base to work with.
This is a solid quality bike rack. It is easy to work with and holds my bikes with security I can trust.
Super easy install, and lowering it to open the tailgate is a breeze. The only reason for not getting 5 stars is fitting 4 adult bikes on this without them scratching each other or getting handlebars stuck in spokes of another bike is near impossible. Realistically, you can get 3 bikes on here safely.
The bike rack seems to function great; however, it will not fit into the receiver on my jeep bumper. All other 2" hitches fit in fine into the same receiver, but this one jams up and refuses to go in far enough. It seems like the rack is just a fraction of an inch too large, it fits fine into two other vehicles' receivers which I tested. Other than it not working for the vehicle I bought it for, it seems like a sturdy bike rack. The folding feature is great, as is the tilt feature.
