Reviews for Quadratec 4 Bike Folding Bike Rack for 2" Receiver Hitch
While I think the quality of this bike rack is good, it is not suitable for mountain bikes. Due to the geometry of mountain bike frames, they do not fit well on this bike rack. It is difficult to load them on and off, and the brake cables often get caught. I would only recommend this rack if you are going to use it for road bikes.
So far it seems to be a good, heavy duty rack. Only giving 3 stars because I had to do a little fabrication on the rack to make it fit my JT with 35's. A little disappointed Quadratec would not have adjusted this to fit 35's would be such a simple solution.
I've recently just used this product purchased it back earlier in the year. My first bike rack was a Bell 4 bike rack. So I'll be comparing it to that. Same receiver size. The Bell had a built in lock and cable. Was much easier to remove and install than the Quadratec. You could lower the arm to load the bike and the pin holding it in place was spring loaded. Much easier. The arms were also removable to prevent theft or tampering. This rack also sits much higher than the Bell on my Pilot. I'm only 5'2" and its a struggle with a 26" aluminum beach cruiser. And now I have to buy an arm so it won't sit wonky? I was not happy buying the additional lock pin and cable. It looks nice and is functional. I doubt I'll buy another Quadratec bike rack again.
Beware, this comes with a 1/2" hitch pin. If you receiver is 5/8" pin hole you will have significant rattle that i will have to figure out the solution to. However, everything else seems really solid.
Very solid material and design. Packaging is fragile, I got the first delivery cracked and scratched, and got it replaced quickly but the second one has alignment issue which makes it nearly unusable, very hard to pull out and push in the pin. The customer service says it is supposed to be that kind of tight, but the first one was really smooth like a butter, it is the quality control. I have to wrap the lower bolt with foil paper making a lift to align the holes EVERY TIME I install it. Frustrating experience!!
Good for road bikes but you would struggle to get 4 mountain bikes on this.
I have a 35" spare & it is not even close to fitting. Make sure you measure first. It does appear to be well built though.
Really low quality product. A lot of movement in the whole rack when properly installed. Not Sturdy enough for mountain bikes. Does not allow access to the back of a Wrangler, even with an extender. The process to fold and unfold the rack is very annoying, with locking pins that have to be completely removed and reinstalled while trying to hold the arms in a position to align the holes.
