We all know attending a college or university these days is really expensive. Just look at the news. Tuition costs everywhere rising, it seems, every semester. But you know what else is expensive? Losing out on great ideas or practical solutions that can help improve our environment or even the vehicles we drive. And for anyone not able to further their education in the environmental or automotive field, well, make no mistake. We all end up losing out.
Quadratec can help. Our ‘Education Is The Best Accessory’ scholarship program is focused directly on helping support those college students passionate about the environment or automotive world, and who are looking to make a career helping save our trees, rocks and bushes, or discovering how the automotive world can better interact with the environment.
Over the years, Quadratec has proudly awarded environmental-restoration grants to scores of groups and individuals through our Quadratec Cares Restoration for Recreation program. In the process, we’ve seen a tremendous improvement in trails and off-road parks from Maine to California. But more importantly, we understand more and more that one of the best ways to promote environmental and automotive responsibility is to support those who will carry the torch going forward.
Scholarship Details
Starting this scholastic year, we are taking our love for all things environmental and automotive, and heading off to school – literally. We are offering two $4,000 scholarships per year – one each for the spring and fall semesters – to students currently pursuing four-year degrees in the environmental or automotive design field.
Some examples of this would be:
- Environmental Studies
- Environmental Research
- Land Use
- Earth and Atmosphere Studies
- Sustainable Land Management
- Parks and Recreation
- Sustainable Agriculture Systems
- Automotive Design/Engineering
Interested and eligible students should submit a 600-1200 word essay to [email protected] that describes who you are, what drives and inspires you, what you are learning, and how you plan to apply it to your career.
Please submit your essay as a PDF (preferred) or Microsoft Word document to be eligible for consideration. In addition, all essays must be accompanied with proof of enrollment in an accredited United States four-year college or university.
Acceptable proof of enrollment documents include a scanned student identification card indicating you are enrolled for the 2018 school year, a transcript or course list showing the courses you are enrolled in for dates corresponding to this scholarship contest, a letter from your college student affairs or admissions office stating that you are enrolled as a student for a time period that includes the contest date.

What You Can Win
Recipients receive a one-time $4000 payment directly to the financial office at their respective four-year college or university.
Funds are usable for tuition only – not for other costs listed on your semester bill, such as room and board.
Funds are not transferable to other individuals, nor are they renewable. However, previous winners still enrolled at their college or university may submit a new essay during the next scholarship period following the same criteria.
We may also ask for a photo and create press releases or blog articles, etc. as appropriate.
Who is Eligible
You must be enrolled full time at a four-year college or university in the United States at the time the application is submitted, and pursuing a bachelor degree related to the environmental or automotive field. Please limit entries to one essay per person, per semester.
Application Period
All essays must be submitted by 11:59PM EST, October 31, to be considered for the spring semester, and 11:59PM EST, May 31, for the fall semester. Each scholarship winner will be selected no later than the 20th of the following month. Any entries received after fall or spring cutoff times, will be applied to the next semester contest.

The Fine Print
By submitting an entry to Quadratec’s ‘Strategic Scholarship Initiative' Program, you transfer all rights and ownership of submitted content to Quadratec, regardless of whether your entry is selected as a winner. Quadratec reserves the right to publish portions of submitted work at the conclusion of the entry period. Selections of winning submissions are entirely at the discretion of Quadratec's carefully-selected scholarship panel. Winner(s) will be contacted by Quadratec via the email address used for submission. If only five or less eligible entries are received by the scholarship submission date, Quadratec reserves the right to cancel the Quadratec 'Strategic Scholarship Initiative' Program for that period.
