Reviews for Quadratec Adventure Mirrors with Square Head for 76-24 Jeep Wrangler JL, JK, TJ, YJ, CJ & Gladiator JT
Great concept but unfortunately I can not recommend these mirrors. I've changed the hardware ( washers ) to star type locking to help with the folding in at speeds above 40 mph or so. I will fabricate some bracing to see if I can eliminate the horrible vibration.
The vibrate like crazy. They need to be bolted on very very tight, if you dont, they will literally rattle themselves off. I lock tighted and torque wrenched them on, and they still vibrate. Forget offroading on a trail with em, its hard to use them with just engine idle. Its the single post design, the attachment point is so low that the long length of that metal arm just plain vibrates. It has to be under such high tension that if you flick it with your finger you get this little resonance thing going. normally who cares right? but its a mirror, everything you see will be all jumpy. even the slightest sub milimiter hardly even measurable wobble will make what you see very distracting. Its easy to assemble and use I guess, but unless you literally just want to avoid being pulled over by the cops, they will need alot of work to get truly "Daily Driver" road worthy. I imagine people will drive up the the trail head with full doors and pop them off and put these on as a simple "still legal" option. I have no idea how so many people think this is 5 stars, a single mounting point is not a good idea when its so far away. I'm currently looking for something else.
I really liked the look of these mirrors, but the reviews by others are true. These mirrors whistle Dixie down the road and vibrate something fierce. Back to using my Harley mirror when doors are off.
Don't waste your money on these mirrors. While the quality is good, how they attach is not good. They won't stay in place due to wind, unless you plan on not driving very fast. As a new Jeep owner, I should have waited to purchase mirrors for doors off. Sadly money wasted.
Does not tighten enough to keep mirrors from moving inward from the wind. Mirrors also whistle while driving. Very annoying.
I was excited to get them but only to be disappointed by them. Will be contacting Quadratec to return.
No matter how much I tightened, mirror moves when going over 50mph. Not very much fun. Obviously I could adjust driver side, but not what I was hoping for.
Have to agree with so many others. I don't mind the excessive wind noise too much, but they vibrate so much it's hard to look into them while driving. Worst of all, anything over 45 MPH and the wind swings them inward rendering them useless.
Cheaply made.had to weld a pin on arms to keep them from folding in at highway speed. The threaded insert is pulling out of the arm.you cannot get them tight enough to stay in place
Wind moves the mirrors. Cannot tighten enough to make them stay in place. They essentially do not work unless driving at not-highway speeds.
These are terrible. I couldn't get them to tighten up enough to prevent them from blowing back towards me while driving when it got just a little windy and even worse is the vibration...can't see a thing in the mirror while driving the vibration was so bad. Mad I have to lose money just to send them back when it's not my fault they are junk. This is a quality issue and Quadratec should be willing to pay for the shipping costs to send them back.
