Mopar Cold Air Intake Reviews
When you live in dessert climate this is really a must. At 45C degrees, I don’t need a dyno to notice performance improvement. The original filter and intake might be sufficient when you operate your Wrangler in cold dense air mass. When you go up into mountain an dunes at high temperatures this is a necessary upgrade.
Some improvement in fuel mileage. Not sure how much. During heavy throttle you can hear the intake resonance more but not a whole lot. Looks good and cooler air in hot weather is always good.
Ignore the Mopar instructions about removing the hood and hood liner. Not necessary. Besides, doing so will break the paint at the 4 bolts that hold the hood to the hinges. Only need to remove one hood liner clip to align the index hole in the template. Align the template properly, use a Dremel with the 1.5" cut-off wheel, take your time cutting, and you should have no problem. Cover the engine compartment and yourself because cutting will generate a lot of very fine metal particles.
There are videos on the internet that show hood-on installation. Watch them.

I WOULD NOT do this again if I could have a do-over. The cost vs quality/fit of the parts is not worth the potential risk of an expensive hood replacement should you screw up the cutting of the hood and/or the paint during the install. If you really want this intake, bring it to a Jeep dealer and have them own the quality of the install job. Mopar could have EASILY made this a sub $100 kit to provide only the needed hood vent (or even hood vent + filter). While the kit provides a new streamlined throttlebody intake tube and a reusable replacement air filter, they are not required to get the cold(er) air into the intake. The original parts would have done just as well. This kit mostly just provides a hole in the hood adjacent to the location closest to outside air.
