Reviews for Smittybilt XRC GEN 1 Rear Bumpers for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
The bumper is well constructed and looks great. I would agree with others that have mentioned some issue with the rear passenger side bolt being difficult. SB could consider a better mounting system but all in all a great bumper.
Bumper was easy to install, needed a hand because of the weight but everything lined up perfectly. Found the brackets that slide into the frame were a little difficult only because they wouldn’t stay in place as I put the bumper on. Looks great and couldn’t be happier with the end result.
Great sturdy bumper. Just as advertised. A little on the heavy side, but that just means it can take a beating...
Looks good and easy install, you get what you pay for its not a high end bumper but it looks and functions great, wish they had a better set up for extending 3rd brake light wire. Also very heavy but if i had to i would buy again!
Solid bumper, and very happy with the look and functionality. The instructions were crap, and not the ones for my bumper. I had to go online and print the PDF from some other site, as well as look at other bumper installs on Youtube. I was also missing hardware and had some hardware that was either redundant or not needed at all.
Quadratec made purchasing a breeze, and shipping was on time if not sooner than expected.
95% complete with install on 2008 JK Wrangler. Did not purchase with tire carrier.
Likes: The look, and sturdiness of the bumper. The price point was excellent. Love the new look!!
Dislike: The instructions need to be rewrote. The explanation, description were not helpful. *used youtube to finish the install. Center part holes/bolts and passenger side lined up perfectly. Driver side did not. Had to use ratchet strap to line up one of 2 holes. Was not able to attach 2nd bolt beacuse it did not line up. I run 33's Nitto Ridge Grapplers, and after putting the bumper on, I could not tie down my spare!!. Going to purchase 2 inch spacer just to mount spare on.
There isnt a place to mount your trailer plug in, but hardware came with it with no instructions on where it goes. You have to finagle the rear bumper in order for the center holes to line up.
There isnt a place to affix the trailer plug in, but hardware came with the package. Instructions do not tell you where to install, nor are there predrilled holes for you to line up. Installation is a two person job.
Tips: Take off your license plate housing in order to remove stock bumper. Purchase 2 inch spacer for 33 inch tires if using stock spare tire carrier. . The cut out for your spare (dip) is smaller than the stock bumper.
*Use a floor jack to help hold bumper in place to line up holes.
Quality is great, very heavy duty! install was difficult...a 2 person job and the directions are pretty useless.
Sturdy and nice, BUT be prepared to have to drill new holes or elongate existing ones in the side mount parts of the bumper. The holes are 3/4" off of the frame nuts where it has to connect. MAJOR flaw. Having to find someone to cut holes in it for me. I have a 35" tire on standard jeep mount and that seems to clear ok. Glad for small things that work :) I even have the smittybilt SRC roof rack, and amazingly the bumper fits close to it without hitting it. Very nice.
Solidly built. However one of the bolt did not line up for the primary attachment. Two of the bolts did not line up on the hitch housing point. Going to have to full remove the muffler to get them worked in. The side bolt that didn’t want to line up I had to just drive in with an impact gun and cross thread the life out of it. Messed with it for over two hours. One bolt two hours. No thanks. The instructions are garbage btw. Watch a video on YouTube if you need help.
Matched front bumper. Middle holes didn't align up. Looks good though. Heavy duty
