Reviews for Go Rhino D14506T Dominator D1 Side Steps for 18-20 Jeep Wrangler JL Unlimited
Great traction
Need two people to install, but it’s exactly what I expected.
Looks great. Slightly scratched.
Love these steps work great handle weight great too.
Installed 2.5 weeks ago. These side steps are fantastic. Solid and tough. The hex stamp out surface makes it non-skid. I like the way the angled front and rear follow the contour of the wheel wells. The step drop will be perfect after installing a lift. The install took a little longer than it should have. It was impossible to install per instructions: mount brackets to jeep, then side step to brackets. I ended up assembling the brackets (loosely) to the side step, then the entire apparatus to the jeep. Much easier. NOTE: The front and rear brackets are different length. One set is about 3/8" longer than the other. Instructions were unclear on this. Called Go Rhino. Longer mounts go in the front.
Looks
I don't give 5 stars, but I'll give this a 4 because it's been a few weeks since I labored for 4 hours putting them on by myself. I did one per the instructions, attaching brackets to Jeep 1st, did the other as suggested by others, loosely attached brackets to runners, then attached. Would be much easier with 2 people. Use of a jack stand or similar to hold one side helps.
Been on several weeks now. Look really good and are very functional. Helped a lot getting in after several hours of snow shoeing! Can be a shin cracker if not careful.
NOTE:::::After you have had them on a few weeks - tighten the 8 hex head bolts (4 on top and 4 under) that hold the plate to the rails, mine were fairly loose.
I’m thankful for the previous reviews - it is absolutely necessary to install the brackets to the board FIRST(loosely)and then install the whole thing on your vehicle. I used my jack to hold the rear end of the board elevated and in place while I attached the front end of the board to my Jeep. Thanks to the other reviewers I was on high alert and triple-checked everything. It worked out great and I love the way they look. I don’t see any noticeable flex or dipping in the boards when I step on them and I’m 200+. All in all, a great looking product, and I’m very happy with the purchase.
I’m going to join in with the others on this and say - tough install. Highly recommend using a jack to hold up one end while trying to catch the mounting plates. We also used an extra bolt to hold the plates upright so they wouldn’t fall inward as we installed.
I have 4 out of 5 because
1 - On time shipping
1 - Excellent packaging!
1 - Really nice finish on the steps
1 - Looks awesome on!
Minus the other star due to the fact that it took two of us 3 hours to figure this out. The instructions aren’t helpful and there aren’t any good videos made yet for the installation how-tos.
Overall - love the look and worth the higher price point!
Would have given 5 stars......First of all great product...looks awesome.....DO NOT FOLLOW THE INCLOSED INSTRUCTIONS.... Pre-assemble the sliders into the side steps....run your bolts into the sliders on a bench vise prior to assembly. This will make them easy to tighten later...
You will need a set of jack stands or a friend to help......
All in all. Great looking and sturdy........
