Reviews for Quadratec 12500 0212 Aluminum Modular Engine and Transmission Skid Plate for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
nice construction solid product but I was told this would fit with my axles, ud60s and it was. VERY tight fit. im sure if I had stock axles it wouldn't haven ended up so close
I love the look and the design. It fits great and the weight is awesomely light. I can't rate it high unfortunately. The first time the plate to a hit, it flexed up into my drive shaft. I high centered and it pinned the plate against the shaft. Luckily it's aluminum so the drive shaft shaved the edge. Once off the plate it did spring back to its original position..... That's a lot of give and flex. The cross member they provide did bend a little and the plate doors against my exhaust now. I really wanted to like this plate. I will say if you buy the whole kit and interlock the plates it might give it more strength. But stand alone it's not what I thought.
These will not hold up to any rocks at all buy steel instead.
I Love Quadratec for the most part. When I started building my Jeep many years ago I looked to them for parts. However these last couple of years my pride has sunken low. I purchased the full under armor and as claimed by everyone else on here, it was easy to install and looked great. Only if you owned a mall crawler.
The biggest issue I had originally is that if you have a long arm kit, the crossmember for the transmission and engine skid WILL NOT WORK. It will install but the missing crossmember is crucial to keep its rigidity in place. It didn’t state that on the website upon purchase. As that I was cutting short in time (shipping got screwed up somehow) with an upcoming trip I installed anyways. What a mistake!!! The very first rock that hit the under carriage folded that skid plate up to the point the axel would strike every time I went over an obstacle. The motor mount brackets folded like a pretzel and prevented the suspension to articulate as it should. Complete waist of money.
Again, Quadratec is still my parts company of choice, but this particular product should stay in CHINA.
Well I was happy with it until I wasn't. The fit and look are good. It felt really solid but did not hold up as I was hoping. The first time I high centered on a rock the aluminum buckled and now where it was once straight its now curved. I thought that it would hold up the weight of the Jeep but it didn't. Not sure if it was the location that the rock rested on since it was a corner but regardless it didn't live up to my expectations. Very disappointing. Now what...
