Reviews for AccuPart Delrin Replacement Door Hinge Bushings for 93-06 Jeep Wrangler YJ and TJ
The punch was useless for the age of my bushings, it only twisted the hinge and hurt the paint. Just use a small screwdriver to mangle the old ones out slowly, they have two layers. Then sand the hack out of the door pins, what it comes with is not enough. Then you will be good to go.
Removal tool was useless for rusted in bushings. Used a small screw driver to bend up the flange on the old bushing and drove it down through the hinge. After cleaning the hinge and hinge pin, new bushing went in no problem and greatly improved door movement. Applied a little marine grease to keep out water.
good
I'm only giving this a 3/5 because unless you have a new vehicle (and TJ/LJs haven't been produced for 12 years) it's going to take longer. My upper bushings were replaced in 10 minutes or less. They came out fairly easily with the supplied tool, and with the cleanup of the pin and hinge (as described in the instructions they went easy. HOWEVER the lower bushings literally took hours, caused the lower hinges to twist out of position and even with the suggested padding, caused dings and deep scratches in the paint. I ended up switching to a 4lb hammer to get the lower passenger bushing out, the drivers is still partially in there (I got out some of it with a drill but it would not budget with the tool. This is beyond rust and I'm almost thinking loctite or another bonding agent was used on the lower bushings. Once in they work well, but take that '1 hour install' with a grain of salt.
Top and bottom hinges are different on a TJ. Top worked great. I can't understand why all these guys give this product 5 stars. If I paid myself the time it took to do the bottoms, I would have lost money on this purchase.
These do not work at all with my '94 Wrangler. The bushing measures 0.465" OD, the ID of my hinge after cleaning it out is about 0.400-0.405" ; no where near fitting. There are some kits that are advertised to work with CJ7 through TJ, but do not work with 95 or 97 Wrangler. I have not found an explanation why. Are they smaller diameter in those two years? My Wrangler was built May 1994, so maybe it has the same hinge as a 95? I've never heard of that hinge size changing in the YJ body style but it's the only thing I can think of at this point.
If the actual size was in the description I could have measured before ordering.
