Reviews for AccuPart Delrin Replacement Door Hinge Bushings for 93-06 Jeep Wrangler YJ and TJ
Great improvement over the original metal bushings! It was a bear to get one of the old ones out, but after lots of lubricant and working patiently at it with the tool provided as well as a screwdriver, it finally came out. I can now take the doors off and put them back on with ease.
Easy install and worth every penny!
The new bushings are great. However, getting the old metal sleeves out of my 2003 TJ was extremely difficult. The provided metal pin wouldn't begin to budge them, and I ended up twisting my two lower hinges by hammering on them. I was able to re-align the lower hinges successfully, but ended up having to drill out the old metal inserts on all 4 hinges and then use a rat-tail file to clean them out.
Quality of bushings are top notch and being made of Delrin, they're going to last. My only issue with the install was getting the hinges clean enough to accept the bushings. The wire brush provided did not remove enough corrosion and debris. I'd highly recommend using a dremel with a grinding stone or small wire wheel to clean out your hinge. It makes a huge difference in comparison to brushing away with the supplied brush. Doors now open and close with ease! Be sure to check your door pins as well, as they may have suffered damage from your sagging doors, and will most likely need replaced, or at least adjusted.
This job took me about 20 minutes. I live in Colorado and my Jeep stays in the garage if I'm not wheeling. I am also anal about cleaning my 04 Rubicon after wheeling. I soaked the hinges in PB Blaster the night before. The top inserts came out with 3 or 4 taps. The bottoms took about a dozen taps but came right out. I cleaned everything out and put it back together and now my wife could remove the doors easily. This product was worth every penny. I continue to make changes as the new technology comes out.
Top went smooth like everybody else is bottom was tough but it is pushed out and I believe the bushings that I bought are cheaper than the ones that were in there and possibly they're going to be replaced with somebody said they hoped it in that wouldn't have to replace them Replacements look cheaper than what one in there so I'm assuming I'll be replacing them again about an hour and a half though not too bad
Doors open smooth as silk now....after half a day spent getting old bushings out. Don’t be fooled if top hinge bushings come out fairly easy. The bottom hinge bushings were a nightmare but finally got them done after using a Dremal tool to cut a grove in the top inside part of old bushing and then bending top part off of hinge and beating bushing some more. Glad the project is done and hope these last forever.
Be prepared to spend hours trying to take out the old bushings but once you do these work well. What we had to do was once the bushings were in we took a small drill bit and bored out the hole a little more because the fit was very snug. Overall this product is an A+ comes with everything you need but as a suggestion iI would buy another emery piece.
Worth it. Look great and are very functional. When you knock out your old door hinge bushings it's crazy how messed up they are. Hope these hold up for years.
I just installed these over the last Saturday. My bushings were completely worn out and my doors sagged/rattled as a result. Tried to drive old ones out per the instructions, but this was not going to happen. Much time spent with penetrating oil, and very small punches allowed me to remove old bushings. Cleaned hinges with my Dremel and included abrasives and the result is like a new Jeep. Thanks!
