Reviews for Quadratec Maximum Duty Hydro 7.0 Shock Kit for 84-06 Jeep Cherokee XJ & Wrangler TJ
Perfect fit easy install and would highly recommend worrier products cross shock pins for upper rear shocks
Fit the XJ perfectly, nice ride. Handles multiple terrain well.
good budget replacement shocks; I like to buy shock kits with matching components where possible, and this fit the bill for a pair of older Jeeps; easy installation with simple tools; improved the ride over worn stock shocks; know that the Hydro 7.0 graphics shown in the pics are stickers, though; you can leave them off, but they are not printed on the shock body for those of you wanting that detail
For the price, it's hard to beat these, they ride like a dream on the road, and their crawling performance is quite impressive also.
Good shock just as advertised. To put ends in use simple green cleaner on back ones, put boot on first then rubber bushing after that, line up bar end parallel with shock and give good knock to start it, put in vise and press in to it stops, knock end with hammer to go through, then use pliers to seat in spot. The front is the same but on one end. With the soap it's a lot easier, soap it up good. Better than stock ones.
Good feel for my around town driving of this 95 Sahara on 34s.
Installed a year ago. Put 14K miles on them, with about 10 miles a day on dirt roads (part of that in mud season in Vermont), with the last mile being a class 4 road (trail).
No blow outs. Still holding.
Improved the ride on my 99 cherokee. If you replace the shocks on an older cherokee you may want to have replacement parts for the mounting.
Working well for me. Xj, 2” BDS coils/AAL lift. Used “409” for lube during bushing/bar pin installation and two sockets as you would for changing u joints—this worked very well and went quickly. Installation in vehicle was without incident. Used “kroil” penetrating oil on all nuts and bolts eventhough my xj has almost no rust. “Kroil” is the real thing, WAY better than PB blaster. Not even close. Shock performance is just what I was hoping for. Controlled is the word I would use. Neither firm nor squishy, but just right so far. The rear leaves with the AAL are a bit stiffer in ride than the front coils, and they seem to me about as stiff a spring as I would want to use these shocks on. I am very satisfied with my purchase. I should also mdntion that the boots on these are a soft grippy rubber, not a hard slippery plastic. I installed mine, but would not have installed hard plastic ones.
Replaced my OEM shocks with these and ride is better, seems to rebound faster than the factory shocks. I read where people had trouble with the bushings but with a bit of lubricant and a rubber mallet they went right in.
