Reviews for Bestop 54923-35 Trektop NX Glide Soft Top in Black Diamond for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK 4 Door
Great product and easy install.
Just installed the NX Glide on '17 JK Unlimited, Good directions and install video. Only mistake was I put side rails upside down into header first time, and then had the right/left side reversed second time. This was a bit unclear. Without those errors install was simple and would have only taken less than three hours. Make sure to do in warmer weather, much easier to install fabric when it has been in the sun a bit. Operation is as stated. Great quality fabric, excellent fit. Highly recommend. Our vehicle was a hardtop only. Great look with top up and down
Overall, a great top that I would highly recommend. It's relatively easy/quick to put up/down once you get the hang of how all the pieces go together. It has made it very easy to enjoy the jeep wide open (as God intended). Install isn't super complicated, but they are serious about laying the fabric in the warm sun first. I installed on cool cloudy day and it was impossible to get everything snapped in where it was supposed to go. After riding around a big and letting the wind stretch stuff out everything fit. Once it's broken in there is no problem. Only complaint that you should be aware of. Because the edges of the back window all have hard plastic channels instead of zippers the window doesn't roll or fold well at all. makes it difficult to store in the jeep when you take it off. If the designers added one fold point in the middle it would make it perfect without compromising the integrity of the window.
The instructions were great took about 4 hours to install. Just love the way it looks. Don’t have to worry about the zipper being stuck anymore.love the zipper pocket build in the top above the front seats. Now they need to make a bag for the side and rear windows when you take them out.
This is an excellent top! Little different look versus the less expensive tops that ride on the back roll bar as it sits a couple inches above it. Easy to use. Easy to install.
Amazing product and install guide
The product arrived when expected and well packaged. I found a couple of good videos and watched the install prior to attempting it myself. Afterwards, I followed the instructions step by step and it went together perfectly. It took about 4 hrs. which matches the estimate. It does help stretch the fabric if you let it warm up in the sun while installing the hardware. I took it to the carwash the next day and I didn't have any leaks which is a welcome change from the factory soft top. It's supposed to rain this weekend, so I'll follow up my review if there are any leaks. I'm very satisfied with the ease of installation and the look it gives my JK.
We love our new soft top!!! Was fairly easy to install. Instructions say it takes 4 hours. Took me around 3 hours and that includes removal of the factory soft top. So glad I don't have to deal with zippers anymore!!! Highly recommend this soft top to anybody who is looking for one without zippers or others who are looking for a new top and the streamlined look that this top brings to the wrangler.
This definitely took all of 4 hours to install with 2 people, only had a question about one phase of the install but figured it out - great top, I love it. Once installed the windows are very easy to remove and put back on - the top itself is surprisingly more quiet than I expected and there's very little fabric shutter - much less than I was expecting even when traveling the highway. I was looking for a fast-back top that would fold all the way back and I couldn't be happier.
This is my first adventure into soft tops. I waited over a year to find one that I felt offered all that I wanted, and it looked like the Glide was the best choice in terms of ease of use, various configuration options, and the fastback style. A couple of days into it, here is my feedback, and I am hoping to help make the installation process a little more informed for the next user.
Installation - Prepare for 4-5 hours and this is easier completed with a friend. I started with unpacking the box and taking inventory of all parts and hardware to ensure no mishaps later with a missing piece – I had no issues with missing parts. The instructions are generally straightforward but we got hung on installing the side bows to the header/fabric assembly. Color pictures to complement the black and white diagrams would make for an easier installation process. It was somewhat difficult to discern from the diagrams what the final product of the step should look like. An adjustable wrench and/or pair of pliers as well as an electric screwdriver are must haves for installation and the instructions don’t indicate this. We would not have gotten past several steps, including the header/fabric assembly already referenced, without an electric screwdriver. Where the screws are going into metal pieces with pre-drilled holes is where you’ll run into problems.
Installation Tips – For hardware that comes with a “right” and “left” side, ensure you are using the correct side on the correct step and installing it in the correct direction. The diagrams aren’t always clear. It is best to spend a little extra time studying the diagram and the parts before you get too far ahead. Again, another pair of eyes helps with this. The fabric is a nice, tight fit and it was very difficult to attach at first, particularly when you are hot and tired at this point in the process. I had the advantage of a warm, sunny day and kept the top and windows in the sun. They have subsequently been easier to reinstall after the first installation. This was expected.
Fit – It is a nice, tight well-engineered fit. I hand-washed my car the next day and there was no evidence of any leakage. We haven’t had a rainfall since the install, but I would be surprised to find anything different. It is a very clean final product. The fabric whips very slightly during highway driving but remains feeling secure. Noise wasn’t an issue to me at all. I was very happy with the quality and appearance of the fabric.
Ease of Use – I do not have experience with the zippered windows for comparison but window removal is pretty simple, taking just a couple of minutes tops for tear down. I can easily move to the Sunrider feature operating by myself. The only time I’ve taken the top all the way back so far is with a friend but it seems manageable working alone as well. Window reinstall is slightly more time consuming but as I get adjusted to it and the fabric stretches more, this should take under five minutes.
Generally, I’m very happy with my choice. In the two days since the install, I’ve enjoyed the Sunrider, safari top, and full convertible options with pretty easy transitioning between the options. The “glide” aspect as opposed to zippers wasn’t so much a strong selling point to me but it works and maybe this is very appealing to some. My main decision with this top involved the ability to go between Sunrider, safari, and full convertible options with the fastback look, so I got exactly what I wanted and expected.
