Reviews for Quadratec Delrin Replacement Door Hinge Bushings for 07-24 Jeep Wrangler JK & JL 4 Door
2012 Wrangler 4 door been in Minnesota road salt since new so factory bushings and hinge pins very corroded. Hardest part was getting the doors off. Started to remove the first old bushing and the solid feeling and with no movement of the corroded bushing made me think this may be a bad idea. Kept going with a lot of firm (don't get crazy) hits and it started to move, couple hits after that and it was out. It just takes awhile to break up the corrosion. Followed the directions for sanding the hinge pins with the emery cloth and a chain saw file for the hinges until the new bushings fit into place so they were snug with out pounding them in. Follow the directions they work, no problems with door alignment and they open and close with ease. Worth it.
I would highly recommend this product if your intending to replace the door hinge sleeves. The instructions were simple to follow, well written with good pictures. The materials provided in the kit were well made and of good quality. My only suggestion to the manufacturer is to include a small tube of grease (which the instructions mention, but is not provided). Fortunately, I had some handy, but I’m not sure it was the right type.
I was able to follow the instructions and easily replace my hinge sleeves on 4-doors of a JK Wrangler in about an hour.
Worked great for me. Getting the old bushing out of the hinges requires a fair amount of hammering. The other steps were pretty easy. I didn’t have any trouble with the doors being misaligned after installation.
We put these in our 2009 and 2014 Wranglers. When installing, make sure they slide over the door pins easily before inserting them into the body holes. Also, if it is hard to push one into a body hole using just your thumb, take it back out and clean out the hole some more. We have no alignment issues at all and the doors open and close very easily.
First, This is a great product. Second, all of the negative reviewers need to get a life, and learn to follow instructions. I just installed these on my 2010JKU Rubicon. I am a disabled veteran with limited use with my hands. It took me about 1-1 1/2 hours per side. AGAIN, I have limited use and grip strength in my hands. I simply followed instructions that accompanied these liners, and it went smoothly for me. I did have trouble with removal of the old liners ( they wee the original from when I bought the Jeep new in 2009). I am waiting to see how they hold up with daily use, but they were a HUGE IMPROVEMENT over the stock liners. Yes, I did have to adjust the body side hinges, but that went smoothly as well as easily done. STOP whining about this product!
Just installed these this weekend on my 2015 JKUR. My doors had gotten stiff to open and close and there were rust lines forming from the bushings. Took about 30 minutes and the new bushings are great. So much so that I ordered a set for my girlfriend's new 2017 JKU Chief. I would recommend doing these ASAP. Cause dealing with the corrosion sucks.
I did my worst door first, 2008 JKU, great directions. Follow them and you'll be good.If you have an old JK like me and live where you drive in salt, penetrating oil will be your friend. I had one that wouldn't budge. Soaked it, put some pressure on it with a floor jack and 2x4. When I came back to it, tapped out easy. Patience recommended
Great product! I have a 2008 JKU. I was worried that the old bushings would be a major pain to get out after 10 years. Wasn't the case at all. They slid right out using the tool provided. They were a mess (corroded, split at the flange). The new bushings appear to be of very high quality. I spent about 30 min on each door, primarily because my door hinge pins were filthy and needed a lot of work with the emory cloth and with a hand file. My only complaint is that there is not enough emory cloth provided, so I had to go to the hardware store to buy more. Additionally, the grit was coarser on the new emory cloth I bought which made the job go faster. I only had to do a slight adjustment on the strike plate of a single door. Otherwise, the fitment seemed to be really well done.
The stock bushings are JUNK. They had flattened out and started separating on my 2016 with only 15k miles! Doors were sagging and rattling. These bushings fit perfect. They seem very high quality and should last a long time. Replacing the factory bushings with these eliminated my door rattle and made the hinge pin retainer nuts look like they actually fit on the doors as opposed to having a big gap.Buy these bushings. You won't be disappointed.
Just finish installing these this morning and it was an easy install. Now I don’t have to worry about my doors not able to come off when it’s time for me to take them off in the summer.
