Reviews for Quadratec Automatic Billet Aluminum Mirror Movers for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
Pretty simple install and they look great
Best investment that I've ever made. Works great with the doors off.
I am SO pleased with these mirrors!! They do move a little more than factory, but nothing that interferes with viability or anything like the mirrors that mount to the A pillar or door hinge. If you're considering them, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase them again. A couple tips I would give on the install though that I wish I would have had before taking my factory mirrors off and putting these on. First, unless you have really long arms, having another person to give you a hand as you remove the factory mirrors would be helpful. The video say "use care when feeding the wires through the door." Well, there's good reason for that statement. If you feed the wire through and let it drop down into the door there's a real good chance it'll get stuck and you'll spend some time trying to fish it out. On the second mirror I had someone help pull the factory mirror back to keep tension on the wires as I fed them through, made install much faster on the second side. Secondly, I'd highly recommend laying the new mirror on a bar stool or something high enough (and secure) to hold it while you're starting to feed the wires through the hod cowl. Also, on this subject, I have a 2017 and I had to do a little modifying on the wire harness to pass it through the cowl. I wasn't crazy about taking a razor blade to something that was brand new and that I had spent that much money on, but shaving a little off did the trick. Install took longer than 4 hours, but I was working slow and meticulous, and the passengers side went much faster after doing the drivers side. Outstanding quality and I love them!!
Love this product. Installation took a bit longer than anticipated but could not be happier with the results.
Other than my lift and tire upgrade, this is probably my favorite modification to my '17 JKU Rubicon Hard Rock. Previously I used the hinge mounted side trail mirrors when my doors were taken off. They served their purpose but took nearly twice as long to install them as it would to remove all four doors and top. In addition I had to tighten them down considerably so that would they would not flutter in the wind and then positioning the mirror so that you can see out of them (which was still poor visibility). After a few months using those mirrors (and stripping one of the threads), I sprang for these mirrors and am beyond thrilled! First and foremost, removing my doors is now nearly effortless: pin the mirror back with the supplied alan key and remove the door. Done! Secondly, the mirrors' field of vision remain in the OEM location thus eliminating any adjustment to driving, blind spots, etc. Plus I still have the defrost function and power movement if required. Install took a little time but most certainly well worth it. Definitely a 5 star and have recommended this product to many Jeepers.
Probably the best upgrade I’ve made. I can’t believe Jeep doesn’t build them this way. So seamless. Very well done.
Best upgrade I've done. Easy install and a great how to video.
All the claims are accurate. This kit could not be more straight forward to install, even if you only watch the video. High quality construction all around confirms the price tag.
As some of my Jeep Brothers have already mentioned in previous reviews:
1. No more fly open door issues with the new spring loaded arm holding the mirror.
2. On some models (mine is a 16 JK) there is another driver-side firewall penetration that is easier to get to than the one with the washer fluid hose passing through it. It is about 6-7 inches below the one shown on the instructions/video. Take the 10mm nut off the back of the horn and flip it out of the way to get easiest access to it.
3. Also on some models, the new plug on the cable for the new mirror(s) won't pass though the inner cowl pathway without using a panel pry tool to slightly increase the clearance needed. Not very much though, so no chance of any damage by doing so.
You can speed this project up a bit using a power drill with the 3 different fasteners you'll encounter. The only time you need the included wrench or a screwdriver-handle type #40 driver is on the top bracket bolt for the A-Pillar, where there is no clearance for a socket drive tip.
I had everything done except plugging in the new harness under the dash on the passenger side, in only two hours & that was working by myself. (I'm 62)
There is A LOT of wiring on the passenger side under the dash so standing on your head while moving the old socket up and out of the way to make room to mount the new socket on the old bracket, was the toughest part of this install. I would allow about 20 minutes for that exercise. This brings up a good point... BE SURE you take the time to move both old factory harness sockets off their brackets so you can mount the new harness plugs in their place. When you realize how easy it is to disconnect the door harness plugs when time to remove the doors, I promise you'll be glad you did.
2 thumbs up to the folks at Quadratec for such a well thought-out package!
Fantastic design! Love these both with and without doors on. Well done Quadratec!
I hate taking door panels off and I hate electrical work even more. Quadratec made this install really easy with both the directions and the videos. Going through the firewall was a lot simpler than I expected. I am now ready for summer without the dreaded hassle of installing alternate mirrors and adjusting them/adjusting them/adjusting them....we all know the pain. Great job Quadratec.
