Reviews for Quadratec Automatic Billet Aluminum Mirror Movers for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
These mirrors were great, at first. Finally, a passenger side mirror that is in a location that actually makes it usable.
But then, the "return" spring that makes the mirror snap back into place after opening and closing the door, on the passenger side, ceased to function. Still within the warranty period, I requested a replacement. That was a year ago, and they are still out of stock.
If the replacement had been quick, or at all, or if there was an option to repair the mirror, these would have maintained their 5 star rating.
I was really excited about these. Had a different set and my wife always complained about not being able to see out of the passenger side. I installed these the same day they came. They look great! I can now adjust my mirrors automatically too! But the mirror in the housing shakes so much I can’t see what’s behind me. This is only an issue on the driver side. Tightened up all the screws holding the mirror in and it still wiggles in there. Contacted customer service over a week ago and still haven’t heard back. I paid way too much money for these mirrors for them not to work. Buy at your own risk.
I've had these mirrors installed for a little over a year, and they've been great. Good enough for four stars even. But, then one broke. I'm pretty sure the mirror got bumped in a parking lot or something, but it should be strong enough to sustain a bump or two. The spring that returns the mirror to it's spot after opening the door is broken. There's no support to repair the spring, though so the customer relations team is recommending a new set of mirrors. That's a huge expense when the problem is a $0.50 spring. It's an unacceptable consequence of a tiny problem.
If the build quality of these mirrors was a little higher and there was a way to maintain/repair them, it'd be a perfect solution. As it is, I'll sooner go back to mirrors on the doors. Not worth it.
The quality is nice BUT in the winter the mirrors sometimes dont return back to its home position and you have to roll the window down and grab it and pull it in. I complained and received new mirrors with and still same issue. I also loosened up the bolt and same deal. I had t loosen the bolt so mirror returns and now as I drive the mirror vibrates im just dealing with it now.... Oh and its summer now and they SLOWLY return home but they return.
The look of the mirrors is fantastic... Untill you are driving down the road. Passenger mirror belongs in the fun house at the circus. So distorted and goofy that it bothered me to look in it. The swivel hinge is loose on both driver and passenger side and you do experience vibration in the mirror on "slightly rough roads" I removed both the driver side and the passenger circus mirror installed my OEM mirrors in the supplied bracket. Major improvement in the vibration and viewing pleasure. I will just be tossing the 'New fun house mirrors and not buy a "Quadratec Stamped/Made" component again as my faith in their quality of components is greatly damaged.
I installed these mirrors and loved them. I like how they help stop the door from swinging open, I park on a hill in my driveway. I also like how the mirrors stay when I take the doors off, makes my wife happy.
The issue is the first set scuffed the paint on my passenger door. I called Quadratec and they sent me a paint stick and new mirrors. Not happy with the skuffing but happy with the customer service.
Now the second set is not only scuffing the paint but put a DEEP scratch in the passenger door. The service tech told me to get an estimate to fix the damage and he would send it off to his manager
I sent the information in and have not hear back from the manager.
This was over a week ago and the service tech is now not responding. Not happy!
There is a design flaw with these mirrors.
***Make sure yours are not faulty after installing them or it could result in paint damage.*** I waited about 9 months to buy these. I did as much research as one could. At this price point I expected way more. A couple weeks after installing i noticed that the passenger side us rubbing the paint off my Jeep! I have a 2010 with damn near perfect paint and now I have a giant area on my door where the paint has been ruined. The mirror must not have been pivoted correctly at the factory because it catches my door before the stopper does. This mover also makes putting the doors back on very challenging. To top it off Quadratec decided to place a (non-removable) logo right on the mirror itself. So much for safety huh? These will be going right back.
If you like the top hinges of your door chipped everytime you take the doors off, these mirrors are for you. When you lift the door off, you have about 1/2 of gap before you hit the hinge top on the 1/4 too long jagged sticking out bolt that hold th mirror on....loosly too I might add. This purchase pissed me off since the DONT NEED to sell you the mirrors, all ANYONE needs is the brackets. The mirrors rattle and shake at highway speed and the factory ones didn't. Great idea, REALLY poor execution. The unit COULD have been made so it didn't get in the way of the door hinges. They also could have put a rubber grommet in the bottom of the hinge housing and I would have no complaints, but that would have cost another dollar. There's simply no way the guys at Quadratec don't know about this issue. I guess I'm used to buying things from a motorcycle website where the owner does all the video and when something isn't right or working for him, he says so in the video and 1> You know what you are buying 2> The manufacturer ends up fixing it. I guess I'm spoiled that way. Quadratec......do you really need to rip me off for the cost of two mirrors????????????? I think NOT
