Reviews for Quadratec Maximum Duty 3.5" Coil Spring Suspension Lift Kit for 97-06 Wrangler TJ
This kit has almost everything you will need to lift your TJ, the only issues I ran into was the bolt for the rear track bar was to big to fit through the track bar, and the rear vent line was too short so I had to add to that...but everything else fit great, it took me only about 6 hours...
Easy enough install and great ride. My only complaint is that the bushings wear away unexpectedly fast. I already had to replace my rear bushings and now I have to replace my front bushings.
Great bargain lift kit. Install was fairly straight forward with no surprises or extra fab work required. Despite using the included transfer case drop kit, the linkage to the transfer case still needed to be replaced with an aftermarket cable operated shifter to prevent it from slipping out of 4WLo. Jeep rides great with good articulation if you remove the sway bar connects or use quick disconnects. The only negative with this kit is the upper bushings on the Hydro shocks came out of 3/4 shocks within 1 year and 3000 miles with only mild off roading. Working with Quadratec to get replacements.
This was the perfect lift for what I was looking for. It gave my ‘05 TJ the perfect stance for 33x12.50 tires. I was able to install myself in just over a day. I would have rated it 5 stars, but the transfer case linkage is a pain to get on. Also, once it is on, I lost the capability for 4 low. My fix was to weld the new drop bracket to the factory linkage bracket, removed the bolts, and was able to get into 4low. Other than that, this is a great lift if you are not wanting to go too extreme.
Excellent lift for the price if you just use the parts in it. In hind sight I'd have gone with a complete lift kit, I ended up not lowering the t-case and adding a SYE and procomp DS instead. Also a jks HD steering kit, extended brake lines, adjustable front and year track bars, and adjustable upper rear control arms. Save your money and get a full kit, it WILL be cheaper in the long run
good lift kit. got about 4 1/2" out of it. only issue was the 4wd drive shifter linkage. no matter how i did it i could not make it work. maybe because i have a 2006 unlimited lj. without the linkage kit i can get 2wd and 4wd high so that will have to do until i can go another route.
Got this lift for a 2006 Jeep Wrangler X. The lift itself is fairly complete and not much to gripe about. Overall it gets the job done and honestly for the money its hard to beat. The ride is great on and off road. We did add a couple of items to go along with this lift. The first was a Teraflex front adjustable trackbar as i was not a fan of drilling a hole 3/4 of an inch from the stock hole, mainly from fear of it wearing out overtime and getting weak. With the new trackbar utilizing the factory hole that is no longer a concern. I also added some break line extensions from Crown Performance just to make sure i didn't over extended the factory lines. The lift took a weekend to install but that was running in to several snags in the way of very hesitant bolts. Piece of advice start with the PB blaster before actually jumping in to the project. The lift as a whole is well built and once the bolts broke loose went on without much issue. The one snag that we did have is the transfer case shifter. This lift utilizes spacers to drop the transfer case as to keep from increasing the driveshaft angles. Using the bracket supplied to drop the linkage to match the new resting place of the transmission, the bolts to the new linkage plate get in the way of the shifter having full range of movement. We spoke with Quadratec customer service multiple times, sent pictures, and all that jazz. I have to say their service is top notch as they definitely were trying to figure out what was causing the issue. Bottom line though we were never able to get it figured out so i only retained 2H, 4H and N in the transfer case but lost the much needed 4L. In speaking to their reps we are the first that they know of to have this issue or it just hasn't been reported by anyone else. The good news is there is a workaround, bad news its a little pricey. If you do run into this issue the workaround is a Novak shifter linkage, its truly as much of an upgrade as a workaround as it fixes the issues that were associated with the factory linkage such as binding and kicking out at the worst possible moment. If your reading this please understand i would buy this lift again and there are a lot of people that have the lift and didn't have any issues with the linkage. The lift is perfect with 35's in my opinion and truly changes the entire stance and look of your jeep. I think the 3.5'' lift is a perfect fit for this jeep and couldn't be happier with the way it turned out. I will attach a picture of the linkage so you might be able to see what I am talking about (look to the top linkage making contact with the bolt head on the way into 4L) as well as a before and after of the jeep.
the lift looks great! it would have been nice to have the bushings already pressed in the shocks but other than that no problems
Alright, did 98% of this lift over the weekend. Took two very long days to get on without having every having done a lift before. Lots of trial and error.
There are a few parts in the instructions where it could be a little more clear. Also there is no indication on when to add the rear coils. They came off and went back on again a couple of times.
Listen, must read! Buy an adjustable tract bar. Unless you are balls on dead accurate on a level drilling, I would not recommend drilling out a new hole for the tract bar. Spend the extra $200 and get an adjustable tract bar. This could cause me some serious issues but we'll see. Don't make my mistake. I already have mine ordered now. Without my Jeep till Wednesday.
The rear tract bar mounting plate should NOT be fully tightened before you put the rear tract bar on, just in case you have to change the trajectory a bit to get the rear tract bar installed again.
Overall not a bad lift kit to install, just a few things that would have made the instructions more clear and this is a biggie!
Quadratec,
I would have given this lift kit 5 out of 5 stars, but your shocks came without the hardware installed. Getting that hardware put in on all 4 shocks took a lot of time. More time than it should have. This was such a time consuming part of the process (probably one of the most time consuming parts).
Very happy with lift put it on my 2006 jeep wrangler took 2 days did front 1 day and rear the second .
The only issue I had is couldn't shift in to 1st 3rd are 5th because of the belly drop !
Only solutions to that is either cut out the shift housing are do the slip yoke elimater and new drive shaft, I went with the cheapest option cutting out the shift housing .
