Reviews for Quadratec Maximum Duty 3.5" Coil Spring Suspension Lift Kit for 97-06 Wrangler TJ
nice kit, good price....impressed w/ on road feel and off road capability....I did buy an adjustable trackbar to go with the kit.
took it off road on some "moderate" trails at Prentice Cooper state park went really well
recommended !
This is a very high Quality lift for the money! I only needed a 2nd hand getting the supplied front springs back in. The only thing that took some time and patience was installing the transfer case linkage bracket. Im very pleased with the finished product!
The hard part....removing the old. Even soaking the bolts a week before the install, I had to cut most of the OEM stuff out with a saws-all from this 03 TJ...from swaybar, control arms, and trackbar mounts. The 3.5" kit however, installed easy and made the TJ look great and serve a greater purpose. Recommend purchasing a good front track-bar to complete this kit and Hydro-shock option if its your daily driver...the Nitros (gas-charged) ride like a covered wagon, as expected. I added 3/4" poly spacers to the rear to keep the TJ from sitting down once I load it with gear. Highly recommended kit for 33s, add a 1-1/2" body lift and its good for 35s.
My nephews and I put this on my 2005 TJ (admittedly they did most of the work) and it has made a world of difference in how my Jeep rides. I purchased a JKS Adjustable Track Bar and OMIX-ADA Adjustable Upper Control Arms to go with the lift kit and I opted for the Hydro 7.0 shocks. The ride is smooth, there is no more death wobble and the 33x12.5 tires on Pro-Comp 7069 wheels look awesome. I did have to cut a piece out of the shifter boot frame to allow me to get into Reverse but other than that it all went together great. Pay attention to the recommendations in the other reviews particularly about not tightening the rear track bar bolts until you have it full in place and make sure you are using the correct bolts for your model year on the the transfer case skid plate when you lower the transfer case. This is a great mod for a stock Jeep.
If you are on a budget, this is the best bang for your buck. I upgraded from a simple 2 inch shock and spring lift from Rough Country, and I have no words to describe how much of an improvement it has been all around. The springs alone were twice the thickness of the RC springs. It took two days to install this lift, as this is my daily driver, and I was pressed on time and had about 5 hours to work on the jeep each day.
The shocks do not come with the bushing pre-mounted. I do not have a table vise, and had to jimmy the bushings in with a few sockets, a jack, and the frame of my jeep.
The shifter linkage is a PITA to replace, as a matter of fact I couldn't get the original dismantled so I have not replaced it yet (lift has been installed for about 6 months now and I have had no issues)
Awesome
Outstanding lift, the kit is top quality, looks great, rides smoothly on the highway and is the perfect lift for my Wrangler.
very suitable choice
I installed this kit on my 2006 TJ 'X' . The wife helped me out with it. I started it last weekend with several evenings and finished it this afternoon. When you don't have a lift, it's a much slower process. Just make sure you check everything for tightness after installing the tires and lowering to the ground. I did the front first, adding a Rusty's adjustable track bar and a Rough Country 2.2 steering stabilizer. I went from a very stock Tj with 27" radials to Pro Comp 15x10 alloys on 33x12.50r15 Hankook Dynapro MT's. This Quadratec Kit combined with the 33's lifted my baby right at 6". Wow!! The wheels have right at 3.76" of backspace so there's no problem with these tires rubbing. Be prepared to take your time. Do the transfer case drop as the last thing. I chose to pull the carpet back at the console and remove the shift lever bracket screws rather than mess with the linkages underneath. Just remember to ease the transmission, tf case down a bit to get the linkage to align properly with the drop bracket. Oh, the tapered head bolts did not work on my Jeep TF case as the threads were different. Quadratec included the correct bolts though to accommodate for the later model Tj. You will have more hardware than what you need. Transmission mount bolts eased perfectly back onto the skid plate. Install the four small nuts, impact the skid plate bolts with 1-1/2 spacers and your done. Drive line vibration was present before dropping the tranny. No vibration after installing the drop kit. All in all, this was a ton if work but a very nice kit and great result with the exact look I was hoping for. 6" of total lift. Wow!!!! Very pleased. One last thing, get your TF case speedo gear here at Quadratec if you plan to change tire size.
This lift kit was exactly what I was looking for. I was wanting a good price 3.5 inch lift for my 98 Tj and this kit was it. It took me about 7 hours in total to do the lift by myself with not much experience in this line of work, but over all I'm very happy with this lift kit would recommend this kit to anyone.
