Reviews for Pypes Performance Exhaust SJJ21R High Clearance Cat-Back System in Stainless Steel for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
Very nice fit, great tone at idle. It may be a touch to loud on a daily driver
Installed this exhaust 6MAY2017. Very high quality and a complete set with all necessary components. Instructions mentions using existing hangers, however, the kit came with a pair, so an update may be in order for Pypes. Factory exhaust was difficult to remove even with a hanger removal tool and copious amounts of lubricant. Any prospective buyer should also have a reciprocating saw handy to cut metal hangers and exhaust as needed (factory). This will be especially the case if you have a 4" lift and the track bar (rear) now is in the way. I also recommend installing using a lift as it helps for access and leverage. This install can be done by one person as long as you've pre-read instructions, gathered the necessary tools and in 3-hours or less. Good product w/ no complaints so far. Sounds good.
box was all busted up, no instructions but pretty straight forward install.
Pretty easy install i didn't like how loud or sound it put out i put Flowmaster hp2 muffler on it made it livable
Good product
Easy install of these new Pypes, but only after removing the OEM muffler system (ugh!). Follow the instructions to pre-soak OEM installation with liquid wrench or equivalent. The sound is (as another reviewer stated) 'rice-like' - which I agree - since my wife was the one that mentioned it too - not me! Meaning the Japanese vehicles that owners have those straight-pipes installed on their Hondas, Mitsubishis, or 2 door coupes that we all see with the big tail-pipe sticking out, but you mostly hear... would be nice to have a slightly more guttural sound like one would expect from a jeep ;) btw my uncles had jeeps with 'bullet' mufflers and that's what I was expecting to hear with these - no such luck. You get what you pay for!
This is a very nice system. Easy to install but its way too loud for a daily driver. It sounds great in the upper RPMs but the low RPM drone is ridiculous. My wife won't even ride in my Jeep now, which may be ok for some people.
Way too loud! Looking forward to replacing the muffler and hoping that will fix it.
Although the parts were easy to install and the instructions were clearly written, the sound is terrible. Drone when the revs are low are, at least in a soft-top, really obnoxious, especially when switching to this from stock. The angle of the piping also was leaving the tailpipe in contact with the rear crossmember of the frame and rattling there. Lastly, there was a bit of rattling between the resonator and the body, but that could likely have been solved by using the included hanger and another isolator, except that the hanger didn't fit in the space available between the frame and exhaust on my 2 door.
The drone produced by this muffler is really really annoying. After driving on the highway for an hour or so you either want to shoot yourself or the jeep. After 4 months of living with it I replaced the muffler with a Flowmaster super HP2 muffler. I'm very satisfied with the result. A much more mellow sound and no interior resonance.
