Reviews for Quadratec Quick Release Mirrors with Square Head for 97-18 Jeep Wrangler TJ, Unlimited, Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimited JK
Would absolutely return these if i could. The arm ALWAYS blows in at around 25 mph (and yes, it is properly tightened). All of the screws have rusted. Spend the extra $ on a better brand...
These are the biggest waste of money! I bought these last summer and only used them for a few months. The passenger mirror after a few uses would not stay in place and then soon followed the driver's side. I go about 25 mph, and the arms start moving in towards the Jeep, making the mirrors useless. I could understand if I am going 60mph, but 25mph? Stay away from these at all costs. They only work for the first few rides.
I would give these zero stars if I could. As others have mentioned, they do not tighten well enough to hold them in place over 35-40 mph. I took pliers to mine to get them to tighten so they wouldn't fold in. A simple modification to the manufacturing process would alleviate this - make the teeth on the adjustment piece larger so the teeth clamp on to one another. As it is, there are small, teeth-like bumps that don't form an adequate clamp. Additionally, the rubber gasket surrounding the mirrors is loose, so air gets in and whistles so loud with the top off that I can't hear the radio. I took some sealant and sealed the gap between the rubber and metal and it resolved the issue...things Quadratec should be testing and doing if they are going to sell products like these. Poor, poor, poor choice for body-mounted mirrors.
Stay away from these mirrors at all costs. They are loud and fold anytime you drive our 30 miles an hour. The "quick" release is not machined properly and is very difficult to tighten. I am disappointed that Quadratec sells these and puts their name on them. DO NOT BUY!
These mirrors are a waste of 50$ They whistle if you go above about 30mph and they constantly fold they don't hold there position very well at all and there as tight as they get on mine. "I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THESE"
Installed per the provided instructions on my 2012 JK. As soon as I started driving down the road at about 35 MPH, the mirrors folded in due to wind resistance. I re-positioned the mirrors, tightened as much as I could, and the same thing happened upon resuming driving. I then tried re-orienting the mirror arms (there are different options using the pre-drilled holes in the arm), as well as re-positioning the mirror itself to attempt to minimize contact with air. This again was to no avail. No matter what I tried, the mirrors caved in as soon as I was traveling above 30-35 MPH. They might work if you only crawled at about 10 MPH, but I drive my jeep on the street too. Totally useless product. Very disappointed.
