Reviews for Quadratec Quick Release Mirrors with Square Head for 97-18 Jeep Wrangler TJ, Unlimited, Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimited JK
Good value for the price. They definitely whistle in the wind at speeds as low as 40 MPH. However, I've got a fairly decent stereo that drowns out most of the whistling sound.
The good: The build quality feels very good. The quick release feature is convenient. The bad: I tightened them down as tight as I possibly could, they stay straight under 40 mph but immediately rotated in at highway speeds. They whistle.
Easy to install. Much sturdier than the hinge-mounted mirrors Quadratec makes. Still have issues with the driver's side folding in while driving at highway speeds or when there is a strong wind.
Nice mirror, but hard to tighten the knob to keep the mirrors from swinging in while driving.
As other reviewers have noted, these mirrors tend to whistle and are difficult to tighten in place, but I've found them to be perfect for my needs and a great value price-wise. They are easy to install and remove and that's just what I wanted for the occasional times our family drives the Jeep with its doors off.
Installation was easy. Brackets are nice and solid. Great mirrors for using when doors are off.
Works great for what I need. Love the permanently installed brackets. Have to really tighten hard to keep wind from pushing them in at higher speeds
I like that the mounts always stay on. The passenger side mirror is very difficult to position right and when I took the Jeep on the highway the mirrors would move a little bit because of the wind resistance. Overall though, I'm happy with the product
Very easy and unobtrusive.
I have two sets of these mirrors. One set for a JK and one for my JKU. Like many have said they don't tighten well and they whistle at almost any speed. I would give them about a 3.5 stars if I could.
looking at the other mirror options they all seem to have the same issues. So for $50 this isn't a bad choice. A couple of things I would do are: use channel locks or pliers to tighten the knob. this will stop the mirrors from turning in toward the body. Yes you will mark up the plastic knob. Take some black silicone and seal the rubber gasket. It also helps to run the silicone on the outside edge eliminating the "ribs" if you know what I mean.
Quadratec should have the teeth in the mounting bracket made bigger. This would easily stop the mirror from moving. I also would like to see a manufacture come up with a quick release system similar to a bike tire. I quick release clamp would be awesome.
So overall these are not bad but they do have room for improvement.
