Reviews for Quadratec Quick Release Mirrors with Square Head for 97-18 Jeep Wrangler TJ, Unlimited, Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimited JK
Nice Mirrors and easy to install. Only issue I have is that you really need to crank down on the 4 prong screw head to insure that the mirrors do not move when driving. Took it for a test drive down a highway and they work great after applying the extra torque that was needed.
Very handy to use when going door-less! You do have to tighten them really tight to keep from moving, beyond that they work great!
they work OK but vibration works them loose
Mirrors are nice quality. The replacement screws and mounting bracket went on without incident. The downfall of this kit is the thumbscrews. The knobs are small and rather sharp. Even with smaller hands it is very hard to grab them in order to tighten them down enough so that the mirrors do not move at high speeds. Plus, the screw that is exposed rusted in a matter of days. I am thinking of replacing with a stainless steel bolts and washers.
These are very nice. The quick release feature is great! I found that at high speed sometimes the mirror gets blown and moves. If this happens enough it strips the teeth that hold the mirror in position. I put some tape over the teeth to fill some space and tighten the grip and it works fine. Strangely enough, this only happened on the driver's side mirror... That figures... they are so easy to put on and off, they're great! I leave the bases on all summer with our without the doors on... But I do take the bases off in the winter to keep them looking new.
I can't seem to get them tight enough to not move when on the freeway, but other than that, they work like they should!
Works great the only problem is if you don't really get them good and tight they can move
Overall, not too bad. They do the trick. I only have my doors off when I am driving around town, not too much on the highway. One thing I learned is that you have to be really careful when taking your doors off and putting them back on. The bracket sits in a funny spot so when you could easily hit your door against it when taking them off and reinstalling them. I have the the American Outlaw EZ On Door Pins (worth the money!), but that forces you to lift your door a bit higher when taking them off and putting them on, so I guess that makes it a bit tougher. They do whistle a bit at around 30mph and above, but it's a Jeep... My radio usually drowns out the whistle, so no harm. I have only used them a few times, so I can not speak to the longer term durability. They do shake, quite a bit, but at the very least you will know if someone is there even though its not super clear... and that's better than nothing.
Great mirrors. Had them installed in about 15-20 mins. The instructions are simple and could be interpreted by a 5 year old (so don't overthink it). The only reason for dropping a star was that the passenger window bracket was not properly threaded on the bottom. Not a big issue as I was able to continue the thread with the quick release knob and get it situated. These mirrors also have a slight whistling sound above 30 mph or so. Again both minor issues for what you are getting. Highly recommend over the other brands!!
mirrors are good. only problem they whistle over 25 mph, but i figured out a fix for it.
The mirrors have a groove around the outside of the mirror that is causing the whistle, i took paracord and wrapped it around the mirror in the groove and now no whistle.
Not sure why the groove is there but it shouldn't be.
