Reviews for Magnaflow 15160 Street Series Axle Back Exhaust System for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK in Black
Like other have mentioned, getting the old exhaust off is the hardest part. I recommend getting the exhaust removal tool from your local hardware store. It sure made the job of getting the hangers off much easier. You'll still need to lube up the pins so they can slide more easily, but they will eventually come off. Remove clamp first, then drivers side hanger then passenger side in that order. Once you have both hangers free, you can work the old exhaust side to side to get it off the existing pipe. You'll want to lube that as much as possible as well. Once off, clean off the bare pipe so the MagnaFlow slides easily on. After that, clamp it back up with provided hardware, re-attach the hangers and you're good to go. Oh, one last thing. Before attaching the hangers, you'll want to align the exhaust to make sure each end is straight. Last thing you want is to have one side sticking out further than the other. Overall, the exhaust looks really, really nice and gives the back end a finished aggressive look. It sounds nice as well.
Great fit and easy to install. Can do it in the driveway, no lift needed. Item packaged very well from Magnaflow, and shipped quickly by Quadratec.
Sound is a little deeper than stock and I expect it to get a little deeper as time goes on. Dual tips look great under our JK.
Great product, great fit. Exactly what I was looking for sound-wise - a little rumble without being obnoxious. Throttle a little snappier with this product and my K&N intake
I installed this on an amber color 2014 jk. the look is amazing, it sounds great! as another person said, the removal of the old exhaust was a pain! i wanted to give up when i could not get the clamp off. I am a total newbie and had lots of youtube help with the exhaust hangers, but they still kicked my butt. installing the magnaflow was easy once the OEM was removed.
Arrived well packaged. removing old muffler was a pain in the a$$. hangars were no problem with a little grease, but removing the header pipe was not easy. it fought me for a solid hour! The Magnaflow was an easy install, 20 minutes. Fit was very good and the sound is nice and mellow.
Nothing new I can add to what hasn't been already said with the exception of this....
That first start up after install. The deep throaty exhaust sound rumbling thru the black dual pipes. Hitting the gas and actually hearing your engine for the first time speak to you. No more shiny tin can exhaust completing the look you were going for...
No it wont turn your Jeep into a sports car. But it now has the feel of an unstoppable bull that is no longer being choked by stock pipes.
I've only owned this part for a short period of time but has been great so far. There is not too much of a difference in sound, but you can notice it better when driving. You can also notice a slight increase in horsepower. This product looks amazing with the theme of my Wrangler and was an easy and quick install.
Love it always hated the look of shiny stock muffler wanted something in black to go with 2016 Rubicon HR ...Pretty easy install did it myself 67 years young no problem...couldn't get it all the way to notch but everything lined up great on bumper and dual exhaust were even so tightened everything up rock solid no leaks no rattle so good enough..Oh and sounds great
This is a GREAT product. Fits perfectly with no modifications. Unit had no damage and was packed very well. I drive a 2013 JKU. The sound is absolutely perfect - just enough of a throaty sound (especially when idling) that you know it's there and those around you notice the low sound, but not loud enough to disturb anyone - including anyone inside the vehicle. I drove it tonight on side roads and on interstate with my soft top on and it was not loud at all inside the vehicle. My 17 year old son thinks it looks and sounds awesome. I won't speak to gas mileage because if I cared about gas mileage, I would not drive a Jeep :) I received the magnaflow unit as a Christmas present yesterday and installed it today. I have two pieces of advice before you install. (1) Purchase a $30 exhaust hanger removal tool from your local auto parts store and (2) remove the old exhaust in the following order: (a) - loosen the main exhaust pipe bracket, (b) -disconnect the driver side rubber hanger, (c) wiggle the old muffler fully off the main exhaust pipe and THEN LAST - disconnect the passenger side rubber hanger once you have the old muffler in your hands and can move it around without any restrictions. I spent way too much time trying to disconnect the passenger side hanger while the unit was still connected to the main pipe. Once I disconnected the old unit fully away from the main exhaust pipe, the passenger side rubber grommet was simple to disconnect within seconds. If I had followed this order of removal, I would have had the entire job done in 30-45 minutes. I have 35 inch tires and a 4 inch lift, so I just did this job in my garage on my back and had no issues. Could do this as a one person job, but is easier if you have someone help hold things and balance the unit. Great product and would highly recommend.
This was exactly what I wanted sound wise and it looks much nicer than the OEM. Like other reviewers said, the sound is not overbearing. Was pretty easy to install. I used dish soap on the rubber hangers. I’d recommend loosening the 15mm bolt on the clamp at the pipe and then extract the drivers side hanger first from the rubber insulator using a channel lock and then remove the muffler at the exhaust pipe before tackling the passenger side hanger. I think this was the easiest approach from trial and error. Love the MF overall and makes my Jeep sound more powerful.
