Reviews for Kicker YJ-SPKUP Front Dash Speaker Replacement Kit for 87-95 Jeep Wrangler YJ
I like that they are designed to replace the old in dash speakers perfectly. I can't wait to get them and put them in!
Easy plug and play kit.
These speakers sound infinitely better than the factory speakers I had! I was hesitant at first because you have to drill a hole on either side of the dash but they give you a black painted screw to fill the hole, and after a while I forgot they weren’t even factory screws. They are also plug and play, no splicing required if you have factory connectors.
My one gripe is that the socket tool included was the wrong size, so I ended up using one of my own sockets. I also loosened the bolts that hold the dash on to give me more room, not required but I have large hands.
Overall very satisfied with my purchase, I’d recommend these to any YJ owner who wishes to upgrade from those crappy old OEM ones.

Speakers sound great. Installation was fairly easy on my 1994 YJ as long as you follow the instruction manual that is included.. I did not know have to take off the parking brake. Highly recommend these speakers.
I was on the fence about buying these because of some of the reviews but my speakers were so bad I decided to take the gamble... and it paid off.
The instructions were pretty clear and easy to follow, they include the drill bit you need, which is nice, and the drill template hit both of my speaker studs dead on. The little aluminum knurled speed nut wrench is a bit fiddly but it does work well.
You will definitely need to remove the parking brake bracket, but it's pretty simple to do so (2 studs through the firewall). Another thing I'd recommend is threading the new speed nuts onto one of the studs you drilled out to open them up a little and to make sure they thread on well. Getting the speed nuts to thread correctly can be quite tricky, when you get it though they will go on easily and you should not need to use a lot of force with the thumb wrench tool. The speed nut wrench should not round out. Also note that the speed nut wrench has one beveled side that fits the new speed nuts and one flat side to remove the old factory speed nuts.
Overall it felt a bit pricey for what the kit was but, other than it being fiddly to reach up behind the dash to get to things, it saved a lot of time and hassle. I was done in about 45 minutes.
Works well.
Great sounding speakers...took me a little longer then it probably should have to swap these out . Instructions were good and easy to follow. I would recommend these to anyone
Perfect replacement for stock speakers
