Reviews for Rugged Ridge 13551.23 Dash Multi-Mount Phone Kit for 18-20 Jeep Wrangler JL & Gladiator JT
It was great while it lasted, after using it about five times the rubber pieces that hold the phone in place broke.
The part that clamps around the phone is flimsy. After about 8 months of very light use, one of the rubber grips has broken. So there's not enough grip left to hold the phone. Otherwise, it was decent while it lasted.
prepare to buy a new phone mount for 12.99. lasted only 8 months. skimping on the metal insert may have saved the manufacturer a penny or two but....they should offer free replacements.other than that it fit well and when the clip is new it holds the phone great.just have to be delicate with it!
Bought mine in October 2018 so this review reflects about 10 months daily use. Installation was easy and worked good for a while. I can't imagine using a phone larger than an IPhone 6 however. Biggest complaint is the tabs that hold your phone snapped. One after about six months and the other a week or so ago. I can still get it to hold my phone but it is not very secure. The other complaint is the adjustment ball has gotten loose from wear and now will not hold phone steady. Phone will just list to the right and point down. Overall just not a good product quality wise. Do not recommend and will not purchase again.
Easy to install, marginally effective. The additional height gives a bit more storage. The ball arm is too short for the articulated joint, however. I cannot get the optimum viewing angle for either my phone or GPS. The grips are somewhat problematic even for my iPhone 6s. A larger phone ain't gonna fit! It is better than a suction cup mount, but I am probably going to have to break down and get the ProClips system...ouch!
It gets two stars because of the fit of the tray and the quality of the construction. The clamp is OK but not sure how it would hold up to some bumps. But I do not see how this is usable by a shorter person. I'm 6'1", the top of my head is level with the top of the roll bar, my seat is a far back as it goes and I can't get a straight on view of the phone screen. It sits too close to the window if the phone is vertical. If the phone is horizontal, it is inclined so far back that in direct sunlight the screen washes out. Two recommended changes:
1. Make the arm about 1 inch longer so that the phone will clear the edge of the dash.
2. Make the ball bigger and/or the nut hole bigger so that it can articulate much farther than it does now.
Had it 6 months and the rubber arms arm just about gone. Not worth it if you’re looking for a longer term solution.
Not satisfied at all. Clamp to phone broke off. Doesn’t work well with large phones with otter case. Would not recommend.
The sides that grip the phone are not very strong. I have had the break 3 to 4 times in 2 years and keep super gluing them back together.
Florida sun ate it up.
