Smittybilt Vaulted Glove Box in Black Reviews
It was a bit difficult to install this due to removing the stock glove box. Once it was out, it was fairly easy to install the new "vault". It has as much if not more room than the stock unit, and the grab handle on the front makes it difficult for me to dislodge my front seat passenger.
My only complaint is that the door rattles a lot, and I haven't found a way t make it stop rattling.
Good quality and sturdy a good purchase. No big deal but the lock I got is different than the picture (standard key). Would be nicer if the key was not needed for closing the door. Removing the back nuts is a real issue, the access is a little difficult but the real issue in my case is that bolts turned with the nuts and there is no way to hold them. Ended up damaging the old one to take it out (it was in bad shape anyways that's why I was changing it). Fits perfect in my '88 YJ. Would buy it again.
Good sturdy build, and welding. The finish is a little off , but not a deal breaker. For the installation the four screws that hold the glove box in place it may be a little challenging. I gave it a healthy try and then employed my trusty Dremel. Opening and closing are solid and pretty smooth. I think it gives the interior a more Jeep look than the original plastic glove box and grab bar.
