Description
The Crown Automotive Heavy Duty Steering Shaft is for manual steering CJ Jeeps with front mounted steering gears. This HD replacement shaft is the same 34.5″ length as the factory, but the bearing end has been changed to a u-joint for greater strength and better flex. This a replaces steering shaft OEM Part # J5353135. Installs into the factory locations using hand tools. For manual steering applications only!

Definitely beefier than OEM. This is a great replacement with noticeable difference in driving/steering behavior.

Seems better with bearing type u-joints at both ends. I did have to extend it to fit both bolt keyways on the end spline crimps, but only a small amount. Easily done. Steering is tighter and no more clunking over bigger bumps.

does this shaft collapse so it can be put on easier or is it solid?
This shaft is extendable. Collapsed it measures 24.5" and extended it is 34.25" Thanks for your inquiry.

Is the column end 1 inch Double D, and the steering box end 3/4 inch with 30 splines?
the steering box end is 3/4" x 36 and the column end is 3/4" 48 splines
