Reviews for Quadratec Winch Ready Bull Bar Front Bumpers for 97-06 Jeep Wrangler TJ & Unlimited
Here's my completely honest review of this bumper after having it for a few weeks now. I ordered this one with the Q9500is winch and LED fog lights bundle which is a great value for about $1000 altogether and I love the look of it with the fog lights and bull bar. When I went to put the bumper on I found that there was a messed up weld on one of the plates inside the bumper that mounts to the frame after realizing the bolts wouldn't slot on the frame correctly.
I immediately jumped onto Quadratec.com to talk to customer support about this and let me just pause here and say that Quadratec's customer service is incredible. I've spoken to them on many accounts from the many products Iv'e bought over the years and they are incredibly helpful and friendly and will go the extra mile to make sure you are a happy customer. The gentleman I spoke with apologized for the messed up weld on the bumper and set up a replacement to be shipped to me the next day. Considering I was off work the next day and only live 45min from West Chester, PA I told the support rep that I could just exchange it there and he put one on hold for me.
When I went to pick it up the gentleman at the front desk was super supportive and even wanted me to open up the new bumper there to ensure that it didn't have any bad welds or issues. All looked go so I went home to install and everything fit into place. I then went to install the fog lights and found that (like another review on here said) the mounts were not even. My left fog light seems to stick out further than the one on the right and at a different kind of angle. So basically the fog light holes are not symmetrical and one shines higher than the other. I can really notice it driving around when I'm behind another vehicle. The right side shines much brighter than the left meaning that its angled differently due to the misaligned mounting points for the light. I plan on buying some washers or doing some sanding to try and correct this unless Quadratec reaches out to me to resolve this issue.
All in all, I really want to love this bumper because it's heavy duty and looks fantastic especially how the winch mounts into it and not just on top like most bumpers. But the issue they seem to have with quality control really shows the flaws in buying this bumper. I'd give this bumper a 3.5 because of this, once these issues are fixed and quality control is on point it becomes a 5 star product. Customer service, however, gets a 5 star.
This bumper seems to be built strong. Nice thick heavy metal. I had no issues with fit. Old bumper off and new one on in about an hour. I do have a problem with the fog light holes/mounts. The one on the pass side is welded on crooked. The light does not shine even horizontally. There is a spot on the road and the rest of the lighting shines up in the air. This is also causing all the light to go to the driver side of the Jeep. I have little to no light hitting the pass side of the road. Something else to be aware of, when I installed my winch the hoop hit the relay pack on my winch. I had to turn the hoop around and lean out to clear the winch. So if you want the hoop leaning in toward the grill like I wanted it may hit the winch. I like the bumper I'm just very unhappy about the fog light alignment issue.
I can't put pictures or I would. Bumper for the most part seems well made and looks nice so I did give 2 stars rather than 1 star. I bought a quadratech bumper and wench so you would think they would work together. You would be wrong as I was. The wench area in the bumper is not cut out the proper size so the wench hits the bumper and no way to rectify it. The coating has a big chunk missing that I found when unpacking it. The bull bar bolts on but on one side does not sit down flush and even. Quite disappointed in what I got for the price I paid. Probably the first and last quadratech parts I will purchase.
Decent product. Someone covered the studs of the bull bar with powder coat.
Sounds minimal but it caused some major issues attempting to install the bar.
This was not a cheap product, enough powder coat on the studs to where the bar can't be installed is a major problem. That's the reason for the two star review.
