Reviews for Quadratec QRC Front Winch Ready Bumper for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
Bumper seems to good quality, fairly easy to install. My only complaint is that I wish there was a cover for the back of the factory led fog lights.
Have had this on a bit over a year, replaced a rugged ridge that ended up getting bent in a wheeling trip. This bumper is HEAVY (at least the full width) and the installation of the fog lights is a bit maddening, but overall it's a decent unit. I can say after some use, the bull par has picked up a couple dents, on the top...strangely, but nothing has come down on it as far as I recall, so that seemed strange. And there's a few spots that rust is starting to show around fog light and d-ring mount areas. The biggest piece that I had to rectract one star is that the mounting tabs for off road lights aren't actually big enough for big brand (KC or similar) to be mounted without doing your own modification...be warned, the tabs arent super thick so just running a drill at it is likely to be frustrating and cause a bend, etc. Otherwise fit the winch that I have and went for basic nilight off roads that fit, but aren't very bright :(
I have the stubby bumper. It's exactly the style I wanted.
It fits with the Tactik Front 3mm Skid Plate, no clearance issues. :) I'll possibly be testing the skid plate at the upcoming Crawl of the Ozarks.
I've taken this bumper on some 3-4 trails at SMORR and *knocks on wood* I haven't had it contact anything. I have a 3" Teraflex ST/3 w/ Fox Shocks lift (soon to be 4.5" Metalcloak Lock N Load long arm) with 35" x 12.5 BFGoodrich KM3s mounted on Tactik steel 17" black rims with the 8-hole "D" windows.
I have deducted one star for the following two items:
1) The back bolts are impossible to access with a socket so they can be torqued to 50 ft-lbs. I ended up drilling two 1/2" holes below the winch deck, in the back of the winch platform, on the angled edge. I probably can't recommend that you do the same, as I'm sure it's violated my warranty, but I wanted access so that I could re-check the bolt's torque easily, well really, at all (without and adapter bolt+wrench). I'm sure someone with the CAD file for this bumper could easily add four oval holes on the angled edge of the winch deck platform, so that a 3/8" socket extension could be inserted and connected to a socket when tightening the back bolts (and probably create better access for the front bolts, too).
2) again, this is likely a warranty voiding modification, but the opening for the winch fair lead was 1.25" top-to-bottom, and it needs to be 1.75", or a synthetic winch rope *will rub* on the edge of the bumper's opening, even with a perfectly centered fair lead. If you're interested to learn more about winch openings, here's a link to Tacital Recovery Equipment's blog on the subject: https://www.tacticalrecoveryequipment.com/is-your-winch-bumper-ready-for-use-with-a-synthetic-winch-rope-checking-your-fairlead-mount-opening/
The bumper looks amazing. For a stubby this thing is heavy and I have no doubts that it will hold up on the trails. Fog lights went on without any issues. I put an Apex Badlands winch on, the holes lined up but could have been set more forward as it put the winch way to close to the grill. The angled plate under made it pretty hard to torque down the nut for the back holes. Overall, extremely happy with the way it turned out.
Was lucky and caught this thing on sale, so 5 stars for the price.
Got to my house in 2-3 days so another 5 stars for shipping.
After getting the stock bumper off the installation wasn't terribly hard with a bit of help. The only hiccup I seen at this point is 1 of the mounting holes isn't exactly drilled right and the bolt won't seat home.
After some time I will give a review on how it lasts
Bumper looks great on jeep. Installation was relatively easy one you get the first bolt on each side in. Wish the bumper had the bolt stems pre installed to hold bumper on place. Install the winch first very difficult to place once bumper is in place due to how the winch plate is attached to the bumper. Over all I am statuaries with the install and look of bumper
