Reviews for Rugged Ridge Stubby Reflex Antenna for 97-22 Jeep Wrangler TJ, JK, JL & Gladiator JT
Radio is staticky since we install this smaller antenna but hubby is satisfied!!!
The threaded stud wasn't quite long enough to make a solid connection to the factory receiver. Had to tap my own all-thread in the right length in order to make a solid connection.
Pros: Great reception, Low Profile, Relatively Rugged.
Cons: Didn't quite seem to marry up with the female end of the antenna port on the Jeep. I wound up having to use caulk and touch-up paint in order to "seal" the slight gap. Pictures attached.
Bolt right up.
Bought the 21” antenna for my 2020 JL. I haven’t traveled much to check reception, but the item had a deep gouge in it when it arrived, which wasn’t the worst part. It doesn’t fit well. There aren’t enough thread to hardly even get a one full turn. It does not come assembled. You get two options for attachment. One end threads into the antenna, the other into the Jeep, and I’m sure the UNUSED attachment fits CJs-?? Not worth returning,‘but worried after some aggressive driving it’ll unthread and disappear on the highway. Two thumbs down.
Two stars only because reception is no different than factory antenna. The drawback is (and this is for 15") how flimsy it is while driving. At highway speeds, or 70 mph, the antenna is flexed all the way back by door frame. If I hit 74 mph, or drive past a semi, even at 65 mph, the wash causes the antenna to knock hard on the car frame. Can hear it hitting even with loud music (ie, volume >30) in vehicle. Probably fine for a trailered trail crawler, but unusable on a daily driver if highway is involved
I bought this 15" for an all black look for my Jeep. It was an easy install and does look great. Unfortunately the reception was terrible. I couldn't pick up my two favorite stations even when in town.
Thread inserted to attach to antenna to jeep were not correct size. Still a gap between bottom of antenna and where it attaches to jeep. Very disappointing.
Ordered the 15" in August 2017 - It recently broke where the threaded fitting meets the plastic antenna cover. Not durable and the reception was never as good as the stock antenna. There are better antennas available.
I ordered the 6" antenna. It struggles to pick up most stations, the factory was much better than it. The base that it screws into on my TJ was cracked when I bought it, and the antenna only opens that crack up more because the base of the antenna itself pushes against the side of the Jeep. I just kept the stock antenna on, as it performed better for me.
