Reviews for Rugged Ridge Stubby Reflex Antenna for 97-22 Jeep Wrangler TJ, JK, JL & Gladiator JT
I installed this on my 2019 JL because I cant stand the factory antenna always whipping around and to be honest, its ugly. This Reflex antenna works just as good as far as reception goes, but they could of put a squared off section on the bottom so you can tighten it up with a wrench like the factory version. You cant tell by the pictures but the shaft is flexible and not stiff like you may think. Overall its a great replacement and dresses up the Jeep really well.
Installed the 6 inch version on my JL to replace the obnoxiously large factory antenna. I typically listen to Sirius or my phone, so I was mainly concerned with looks when I bought this. I also live in the city, so FM reception is not an issue for me. However, if you live an hour away from a major city and you listen to FM a lot, this might not be the antenna for you; 45 minutes south of the city, I definitely dropped a few stations.
4 stars only because with the factory stereo it made the reception worse!!! HOWEVER once I installed my Kenwood KDC-BT772HD Stereo Receiver with Bluetooth and HD Radio I picked up more stations than the factory stereo with factory antenna. AND it looks good too!
Mounting post is too long. Hap to insert spacer to mount. Reception is less. However will not have antenna whipping around on trails.
Not great reception, of course I live in the country. Adds a perfect look to the rugged jeep!
Looks great but leaves a space, I took a pair of plyers & turned it down as far as I could without breaking it, so far radio stations sound good..
Much better than stock, but still a little whippy
Honestly if you don't listen to the radio much and just want this for the looks I'd recommend it. If you DO listen to the radio, there is a noticeable drop-off in signal strength vs. the stock antenna. It's simple physics, it MUST attenuate the signal with a smaller antenna, and it does. It's quite a drastic difference here in South Florida where "the station to pull" is 98.7 the Gator Classic Rock up in West Palm Beach. This antenna can't lock the station but the stock one can even adding 10 miles further south.
That's all that needs to be said, really. Run the tallest antenna you possibly can if you need FM reception. Period. Other than that, looks great and takes 1 min to install.
it works, but need screw mod in order to fit a 2000 tj
Sound not as clear as stock antenna. Does not fit well in stock bracket.
