Reviews for Quadratec Delrin Replacement Door Hinge Bushings for 07-24 Jeep Wrangler JK & JL 4 Door
Does exactly what is intended.
Overall, great product that makes an immediate impact on the usability of the vehicle. The instructions are thorough enough, but I thought I'd share a few lessons learned. If your stock bushings are anything like mine were, the included metal punch won't move the bushings at all. I spent an hour trying to get it out along with penetrating lubricant before I switched to the flathead screwdriver method to remove it from the top down. This proved effective enough that I used this method instead of the included punch for the rest. Essentially use the rim of the stock bushing to wedge your screwdriver under, and slowly work it down. Is this the best solution? No, but it's the only way I could get mine off. Second lesson learned, and the reason for only 4 stars is that the included emory cloth isn't really enough to do the job. My pins required about 5 minutes of sanding a piece, and that cloth was completely barren by the time I got to the last door. I resorted to 120grit sandpaper, but in reality the cloth they give is sufficient if it takes only 1 minute (per the instructions) to sand for the proper fit; but if your hinges are like mine, those pins need more than a minute a piece after many years of wear and tear. Otherwise no issues with the product, and the instructions are great!
This product is well made, however, I encountered many challenges trying to install. Instructions in succeeding revisions needs to mention upfront to pre-treat the door hinges prior to attempting. I ended up have to remove the entire door from the inside and using a soft rubber head mallet to knock the hinges off. The factory units had basically all but deteriorated so then had to using the removed hinges partial reattach and knockout the old cylinders (or what remained). Then I sanded the pins and reinstalled. Ended up bending the edge of two of four doors before getting a technique down. This project is doable but having a partner to help witht the doors is recommended (reattaching). I still recommend doing. I also purchased Macgard locks and installed as well. All from Quadratec, the Macgards being my third JK install.
the worst thing about these is that you have to remove your old beat up door hinge bushings first. after that its all a breeze to install. only had them on for 3 weeks and no issues yet. I was going to wait till after winter to give a review and see how they hold up but I can always re-review them.
They swapped out easy. The rear doors are actually a little tighter with these than the stock ones. Fronts are great and at least these won't rust out over time like the OEM ones.
Works fine but needed to move all door hinge latches up a small amount
Work great but hard to take the doors off once install. I follow the directions to test the plastic piece on the door and went on smoothly. Once installed on the bushings on the jeep I am having a hard time removing the doors.
These worked very well, installed all 8 in 90 minutes. Only complaint is they really should give you more Emory cloth. Only came with 2 (unlimited) and they became ineffective by door #2. I switched to 320 grit sandpaper which ended up being more effective anyways. Some people reported they don't lineup and It is true these raise the door approx 1-2mm and it does cause the locking mechanism to impact the catch on the doorframe. I found out the catch has 2 bolts and once loosened you can raise it to latch smoothly, it's only a tiny bit but it works perfectly. The catch is the medium size Torx but that comes with the little jeep wrench for removing the doors.
These are significantly thicker and higher quality than the OEM bushings. I did all of the recommended preparatory steps per the instructions. Even after cleaning everything perfectly, the bushing needed to be pounded into the hinge. The doors took 30 seconds pulling down hard and swinging them back and forth into place.
The final result is a solid feel, but the fit is so tight that I am not sure if I will be able to take the doors off next spring.
The issue may be associated more w/ the fact that the original ones were rusted. Getting them out then, things sanded down and these in didn't work so well. It might be good to get these BEFORE the rusting kicks in.
