Reviews for Rugged Ridge Dash Multi-Mount Phone Kit for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
Does the job, but you can only pivot the device so far.
Very nice dash mount overall. Had some trouble getting the clips to snap into the jeep's dash. Once snapped in, the dash is sturdy and is great for using my maps and switching music quickly!
I have an iPhone 7 without a case, and an iPhone 6 with a case...the case stays put a little better because of having more edge to grip...but I will say, both of my phones eject out with even the lightest of off-road conditions. How I solved this was to orient it vertically (the picture shows landscape orientation), and edged the cord in as a third point of contact...that seems to do the trick. However, I've gone through my 2nd cord already --- as doing this frays the plastic material.
Great idea, but is shakes a lot! Make the arm stronger, maybe metal as opposed to plastic.
Great holder for cell phone and keeps it right in front of you. I have the hands free kit and it makes using phone a lot easier. Only thing I am not a fan of after a couple months it keeps working itself loose and the phone fell out a couple times. Not a big deal since it is easy to tighten but just thought it was worth a mention.
I love the concept, the base tray is really nice and easy to install; however, the rubber fingers that hold the phone in-place broke within two weeks of use. Quadratec was AWESOME in helping me finding a different solution.
I didn't review this when I initially got it because it was OK, but not great.
But now, the plastic has completely degraded to the point of falling apart and the phone holder broke off the base. It's only 2 years old and obviously not designed for a vehicle in the south. Not likely to buy another Rugged Ridge product is they all use this poor quality plastic.
Used it was great. Got an iPhone 8 and it would not fit anymore with the case. Very disappointing after spending that much on it
Really disappointed this didn’t work out. The “rubber” tray insert is a rigid plastic and will not conform or seat into the groves on the inside of the dash. This leaves the tray just resting awkwardly, crookedly where the factory rubber insert sat flush and snapped in place. An easy fix for this would be to too have the tray liner tapped for the same 7mm bolt, thereby having the liner bolted in place with the mount. Finish with a plug or cover to hide the bolt head after installation. I’d even do this myself if it weren’t for other concerns.
Moving away from fit and finish, I was impressed with the sturdiness of the mount and how locked in it was with the hooks under the dash vents and the 7mm bolt holding it in place.
But I needed to remove my PopSocket as the grip is not deep enough to accommodate a phone with this accessory or probably any phone with a substantial protective case.
I also thought the position of my iPhone 11 to be very awkward that far away on the dash, and obscuring significant part of the windshield between the middle of the dash to the rear view mirror.
Furthermore, on removal, the mount left noticeable markings on my dash that could have easily been prevented by using better materials or adding a small piece of rubber or foam to soften the contact between the plastics.
I was very much looking forward to this product ... too bad it didn’t work out. I have inquired about a return.
Base part is nice but as others noted, phone holder does not work well and breaks quickly. My solution was to file off the tabs and to glue on my own holder. In my case, the belt clip for my Otter Box holder (after some modification to remove the clip part). Best of both worlds now!
