Reviews for Quadratec Maximum Duty 2.5" Coil Spring Suspension Lift Kit for 97-06 Jeep Wrangler TJ
I am not impressed by the lift kit. Yes, my TJ looks better with the 2.5" lift kit, but the ride is horrible. The installation instructions are clear, but the installation is not easy and takes a lot longer than what the instructions suggest (4-6 hours) unless you are a professional mechanic. I had to buy all the other recommended parts (track bar, quick disconnects, adjustable control arms front and rear), and the TJ still had terrible vibrations. When I called Quadratec, they recommended installing an SYE kit. The SYE kit took care of the vibrations, but the ride is still poor.
The TJ now has good off-road performance in rocks and slow speed off-roading, but driving it on trails or other unpaved roads, it's bumpy, including my driveway.
Okay, so this is a longer term review. I purchased this kit in April of 2020 and installed it myself with a little help from a friend. Overall the install was pretty easy. Instructions were clear and all parts were there. It came in a very timely manner. I had no issues on the front. The rear was easy too with one exception. THE CAM BOLTS ARE JUNK and cutting the upper track bar mounts out to be able to use them was a HUGE mistake not to mention took over 2 hours by itself. DO NOT DO THIS TO YOUR JEEP!!!. I'll tell you why. I wasn't able to get rid of the driveline vibration using the full adjustment of the cam bolts. I had to buy a transmission/transfer case lowering kit and it still wasn't great as I still had some vibrations. After 1-1/2 years of "dealing with it", I had a local shop install adjustable control arms and adjustable front track bar on my jeep earlier this week and the difference was AMAZING! Vibrations are gone. It also helped with the slight amount of wandering on the road. One note is that the shop had to weld washers onto the upper control arm mounts on the rear axle where I ground out the slot for the cam bolts in order for the adjustable control arms to have a solid mount. So overall, the springs and shocks seem to be holding up and give a good ride so I am satisfied with that part of the kit. If you buy this kit, I would recommend getting some adjustable length control arms and adjustable track bar. You might be saying the same thing that I said when I read the reviews about not using the cam bolts, "surely they are exaggerating and this kit will work for what I need". If you are using your Jeep as a daily driver, I don't recommend this kit. Buy a more complete (and yes more expensive) kit. You wont' regret it. If your Jeep is a farm or woods toy and you don't drive very much on the road or very long distances, then this kit will probably be sufficient for what you need. I gave it 2 stars because of the customer service, fast shipping, good instructions, and decent shocks and springs. It lost 3 stars because of the cam bolt ineffectiveness and how hard they were to get installed.
Hydro 7 shocks were disappointing. Should have replaced immediately. Installed Old Man Emu shocks and the ride is 10x better.
