Reviews for Quadratec Maximum Duty 2.5" Coil Spring Suspension Lift Kit for 97-06 Jeep Wrangler TJ
Installed on my 2006 LJ. Lift looks and drives great. Only thing that could be better is some notes on optional parts...I will probably be buying sway bar end links. Other than that, very happy, I went with the Hydro shocks and it drives better than stock.
Nice ride and easy to install had mine done in a day with common tools.
This install was done by my sons and I over 2 weekends. Some things to note, lift the jeep as high as your jack will go, secure it by the frame and then use the jack to lift the axles back up to where it is fully supported independently - finally disconnect the linkages and shocks before lowering the axle back down. This will allow you to remove the old springs and insert the new ones without needing a spring compressor- the new ones will be a little tight going in, so you may need to be prepared with a way to compress the new springs a small amount. The most difficult part of this install for me was drilling the hole for the rear track bar relocation bracket. The final result is I'm very pleased with the kit and the look of the lift. I'm running 31x10.5 MTs now and it doesn't rub unless I turn the wheel 100%. The ride is stiffer than I expected so I'm giving this 4 stars, but for the price it was a great investment.
Just had this installed on my jeep with 31 inch tires. The look is perfect, exactly what I was going for. Time will tell how well it performs once I get it muddy.
Needed to add an adjustable front track bar to st the front end right, otherwise satisfied with the rest of it.
2003 TJ: Somewhat easy install for 1 person. Took my time and it took 3/4th of the day. Actually lifted the Jeep 4+ inches which created tremendous driveline vibration. Purchased a 1" trans case lowering kit which took care of that for the most part. Ride is somewhat stiffer that stock. Materials are good quality and I am happy with overall setup.
Good kit. Could use better shocks. Replaced before a year was up.
Received this lift kit about a week after ordering which was surprising. Installation went as expected, normal rusty bults but we were able to get it installed in less than 6 hours. It's too bad this kit can't be ordered without being forced to purchase shocks. The Hydro 7.0 are the worst shocks I've ever seen. First off having to assemble the bushings is a new experience and I've NEVER seen a shock that I have to pull on to get it to extend! I'll never know how they perform because I ordered Rancho shocks from Summit Racing and they'll be here in two days. Until then, my TJ will have to sit until I get decent shocks installed.
fairly happy with this lift but there is some issues with what they sent and how it installs.
# 1 several bolts were not sent, it looks like someone put the correct number of bolts for the snubber extension but sent the wrong size bolt, Not big deal just had to get from hardware store
# 2 the knock out for the rear axel top traction bar that is suppose to just knock out , well I got to tell you 40 years working on heavy equipment, cars, semis, airplanes, farm equipment ,,,,, those knock outs are not coming out with no hammer and punch. dermal tool was a must.
# 3 front traction bar is an issue. Not having an adjustable unit makes wheel offset a bit more on drivers side after lift. Looked at my 05 with a lift and see that a hole in bracket was drilled over about 3/4 inch so tried that and seems to have done the trick. if not an adjustable track bar will be necessary
5 starts for the kit, 1 star for the installation instructions. Removing the front lower control arm was completely unnecessary, and once disconnected, impossible to realign the control arm with the frame and reconnect without tools outside of the scope of the instructions. Wasted hours. The instructions say that disconnecting the the arm allows easier installation of longer springs. Rent spring compressors at no charge at your local auto parts store instead, and save yourself that step and hours of effort, unless you have tools or additional pair of hands to help realign the frame with the axle housing while you reinsert the 21mm bolt. Replacement bump stops that I bought were very hard to press into the cup, but I was able to press in 1/4 of the way, then support axle housing with a block, and gently lower the car with the jacks to use the weight of the car against the axle housing to press in the bump stop.
