Reviews for Mishimoto MMRAD-WRA-07V2 Aluminum Radiator for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
2012 jku. replaced stock radiator with mishimoto about 4+ years ago now & has been fine. Not sure why others are having leak problems. Installation method? Had mine installed at a shop.
Good upgrade!
I'm giving the company 5 stars but not the radiator. I had mine for little over 2 months and started leaking from the top left and right on the engine side of the radiator. Passenger side frame, steering components, wheel well and control arms were sprayed with coolant. Called up Mishimoto and they immediately handled my concern like it was there own. I had to send in a few pictures along with the invoice and they instantly had one sent in the mail with a tracking number sent to my email. I chose to have one overnighted because I need it for a wheeling trip this coming weekend at Rausch. I had thought about going back to OEM but with customer service as good and as fast acting as there's, I decided to stick with what I got. Also ordered a thermostat at a price discount, too. Functionality, I never had it on the trails. In saying so there hasn't been a heavy load on the engine since having it installed. I did notice that in cooler intake temps, courtesy of the Superchips TD2, I did notice the engine ran around 199-205, Jeep JK thermostat opens at 203. If you're looking for a radiator that is in the process of being revamped since this is still a relatively new company with outstanding customer support, I would go with this one. If you don't have time, patients or money(labor charges) to put up with it, probably not what you're look for.
Mine lasted less than 2 years in my ‘14 JKU…worked great until it started to leak
I installed the radiator, it fit well looked great. about 2 weeks later I found out that it was leaking. I contacted the manufacture about it and they told me they would replace it free of charge. I just needed to send a pic of where it was leaking from. I spent several days after work trying to find the leak. I found that one of the welds was not all the way to the end of the tank, and when the fluid was hot and under pressure it would drip about 1 drop every 10 seconds. I shot a video of it and sent it in to them. I got an email later that day with a shipping confirmation. when the package arrived to my surprise they sent me stop leak. I called to question this and was told that they deemed that an appropriate fix. I will never buy this brand again because there life time warranty seams to not even be 6 months.
Same review as Luke O. Had about 6,000 miles on it (3 months) and it started leaking about 3/4 of the way up on the passenger side below the filler neck. They are getting 2 stars vs 1 because Mishimoto stood behind their lifetime warranty and sent me a new one in about a week. Look, fit, and functionality is great, just a little flaw in manufacturing. I'm hoping they just had a bad batch and the warranty replacement I just put in is good to go.
Quadratec - please get rid of this product for your own sake! Mine failed after just over a year and about 12-13k miles. And that's better than lots of folks! The rad cap failed first at the 1yr mark, then 2-3 months later the radiator leaks on the bottom. Mfg is SLOW to get back to you on warranty claims too! This is just not a quality product. It's made in china not Japan like the name sounds and is just a waste of money...
Started dripping coolant after about 1.5 yrs after install, pulled radiator and could count four different spots where it was leaking. Ever since initial install I could always smell coolant but could never find leak (was leaking in fins).
Not worth the hassle.
I bought a Mishimoto Radiator for our Jeep wrangler in 2016. Within 6 months it leaked. They sent me a 2nd radiator. Within a year it started leaking. They sent me Liquid Chill Stop Leak. This band-aided the problem and also clogged my heater core. Another 6 months later, it started leaking again and it began gushing out, overheating my engine. Had to get a flat-bed tow. The "new and improved Gen-2" radiator was out of stock for 2 weeks so we had to put in a stock radiator. We are out hundreds of dollars and hours of wasted time from installing 2 of theirs plus a stock radiator to fix the problem. Do not waste your time or money. It is no better nor gives any cooler engine temps than a stock radiator.
Buy at your own risk!!! You have been warned!
On my 4th mishimoto radiator in 3 years. All have developed leaks near the top where the cores meet the tank, typically near the fill neck. Tested for electrolysis, all tested normal. Have flushed with distilled water, added anti-electrolysis additives, etc. No good. Mishimoto's solution is to add their own "bars" leak style fluid to my system. No thanks. Don't buy one. Waste of money and each replacement costs you shipping (approx. $70). DO NOT BUY.
