Reviews for QuadraTop Premium Sailcloth Replacement Soft Top in Black Diamond for 97-06 Jeep Wrangler TJ
Average rating. I've had it for several weeks now, it went on super easy and I love the material and the windows, it fantastic quality for the money and better than the basic bestop. BUT, its super loose, the OEM top is much tighter. The windows flap in the wind and are loud. The roof is also loose so it retains water. Also the plastic tongues for the doors are really loose and barley stay in place. Because of that it has a lower rating. The top does the job for the price.
Easy to install. I have two complaints hence 1 star deduction for each. The back window did not want to zip. I made sure the sail panels were positioned correctly to ensure the zippers were as close together as possible before I started to zip. The back window zipper pull has a small piece of string around the zipper clamped on with a plastic pull instead of using metal zipper pulls like the side windows have. The string ended up pulling out of the plastic clamp upon zipping on the back window. I opened the clamp and placed the string back inside and clamped it back down only for it to pull out very easily once again. I ended up having to use pliers and looping the string through the zipper slider and clamping with the pliers so I could actually pull it and get it to zip. The top corners of the back window are the hardest areas to zip and it ended up cross zipping on the last 90 degree turn at the top. The window is on for now but I need to unzip it past the part where it went off track and rezip. I am going to buy some zipper lube before trying again and hoping it zips much easier this time. Side windows went on fine but are not as tight as I would like them to be. I have not taken it for a ride yet to see how much road noise it has but it seems to fit much more loosely than the factory top.
Overall good top except for one rear window not fitting in the channel correctly.
Absolutely the worse, the only reason this got two stars is because of Quadratec service, and customer satisfaction. They are wonderful to deal with!!!
I am 80% disabled, I have no one to help me, after installing the new top I could not get it to sit snugly with no wrinkles or waves showing on any of the window. Called Quadratec and they sent me a new top. Installing a soft top should be a relatively easy task, if you're not crippled. After installing the second one and enduring neck and back pain, that too looks like crap. The front edge is the most difficult to get precise, you have to work it from side to side to get it to sit correctly. No matter how I attempted this feat on the second top I could not get both sides to sit properly at the same time. The side windows are a bit to big, when you close the doors they rub on the window edge. The back window does not clip in snugly because it's too long, it too is riddled with waves. The entire top is obviously made in China or another third world country with no concern to quality.
You get what you pay for, unfortunately I am living on an extremely tight budget. Next time I will save my money and by Bestop!!!
The start for the zipper on the rear window came off the first time I took the window out. I contacted Quadratec and never received a reply. The material and fit seem good, but I can't believe a zipper would break after one use. I'm not real impressed.
nothing special had to replace 2 weeks after I installed it windows separated from top not happy
The materials are great, but the zippers for the passenger side window were off. I couldn't even close the door if when I had the window in
Words can not describe how much I hate this soft top. I have been driving TJs for 20 years and this is the 4th soft top I have owned. Mice ate my last one over the winter and I decided to "upgrade" it,
Lets start with the zippers. The first time I put in the back window the stopper for the zipper literally fell off and the zipper came apart. I had to order a replacement window and put it in. Now the zipper on the new window is stuck and I can't remove the back window. I am afraid to even try any more for fear the whole zipper will come apart if I am not as gentle as a baby with it.
The whole top is so taut, even sitting out in the sun on a hot day, that I have to struggle to get the side windows in. The plastic catches over the doors are so tight I can't even get them out now in order to take the top down. The top looks like my jeep is wearing skinny jeans 2 sizes too small.
Only positive is it doesn't make any noise because it literally can't move. Unless you are looking for a permanently installed soft top
Not happy with the quality of the zippers. The first top I received had a problem with the rear window zipper. It was as if the zipper was sewn in wrong because it would not make it around the corner. Quadratec send me a new one, and that one made it to the second year before the side window zippers would not work. The zippers are very lightweight, and the teeth get out of line and will not mesh. I was told that the warranty is from the original date of purchase, so my second top is not covered. I have a new top that I can't get windows in.
Had the cover for less than a month. About three weeks ago took cover off but realized there was a zipper issue on left door and rear hatch window piece. Upon trying to remove the double zipper snapped off the latch and pulled apart. Careful when choosing this replacement top. This should not be built this way where zipper starters fall apart. I will report upon clarifying with them but as of now. Buyer beware. Customer service with Quadratec from my start has been nothing short of a nightmare
