Reviews for QuadraTop Premium Sailcloth Replacement Soft Top in Black Diamond for 97-06 Jeep Wrangler TJ
I'll start with dealing with quadratec on service and shipping. I received my top very quickly. I opened the box and noticed a problem, so I contacted them and I had a new top in 2 days. I will use quadratec for all my jeep needs because of their service. The top fit well and only took about 30 minutes to install. I love the flat tinted windows. I was concerned about visibility but there are no problems at all. My only issue with the fit is around the back window. It is a little loose around the bottom but it's not bad enough to cause any leaks. I definitely recommend this top for fit and finish! I am very satisfied with my purchase.
I've had this top installed for about 10 months now. I was a little worried about the fit around the doors at first but so far so good. I have had no problem with leaks and, while still noisy at highway speeds, it is not as noisy as I had expected. And the thick windows have heald up well without scratching thus far. I am very pleased with this top and would purchase it again if needed. Definitely worth every penny in my book.
I bought this top to replace the factory '06 top. This top went on easily except the rear window. The zippers on the rear window pull up easily enough until you get to the corner. I had trouble zipping in the rear window the night I installed it so i let it sit in the garage overnight, 85 degrees over night and hotter the following day. The next day I was pulling so hard on the zipper pull that the plastic end came off of the chord of the pull. I threaded a piece of parachord through the slider and enlisted help to pull the corner of the window up while I pulled the zipper and was able to make the first turn. The second turn was almost as difficult as the first. I haven't taken the top down yet, partially because of the zipper on the back window.
The top has a heavy, high quality feel to it. It looks good on the TJ and has a slight noise on the interstate. It is less noisy than the factory but the factory is 11 years old. The windows are roughly the same level of tint as the factory and are very clear.
Just installed a new Quadratop on our 2001 TJ and looks great even though it's black instead of the original tan. The directions were good but we had a very difficult time in getting the rear window to zip. We put the jeep in our heated garage over night but still would not zip. The next day I put it out in the 80 degree sun and surprisingly it zipped with no problem. I believe this top will be easier than the original.
Love, love, LOVE this top! It's a little hard to get back on but I installed in the winter and it still hasn't been above 40 with the exception of a couple 70 degree days when I was able to put the top down. Windows are crystal clear, top is quiet and doesn't leak a drop. Will buy again and again, this is the best top I've ever purchased and I've purchased many tops.
My original TJ top is about 12 years old and it was time for a replacement. I didn't want to spend a fortune for a top so I figured I'd try this one. The material feels significantly more thin than the original top and is more flexible (not sure if that's good or bad) so time will tell about durability. Windows are much clearer than even a new original top. Fit is pretty good. Initially the fabric had wrinkles at the header channel and I was thinking of returning it, but after a few days they have more or less worked themselves out. The stitching at the header channel is straight but it curves due to the stretching of the top (at least I think that's what's happening). As a perfectionist this bothered me initially, but you don't notice if you're not looking for it. I cannot review noise because I have mud tires and can't hear anything but them, but it SEEMS to be about as loud as the factory top. Rear window zippers go up at both sides, so you can roll up the rear. Overall, I'm pretty happy with this top's initial quality, as another reviewer stated. Just don't expect Mopar (read: $1800) quality. One odd thing is that the factory header channel had about 12 screws, and the Quadratop calls for only six, one of which was not centered front to rear. I went ahead and drilled a few more holes so I could add the other six screws. This is a mystery as to why they wouldn't have done this but it's an easy modification. I would give it 4.5 stars.
Looks great! This was my first time using a replacement top and the install was relatively easy. Just add a couple steps to taking your top on and off. Only complaint: for $400.00 you'd think they could send ya a couple extra screws.
This will be my 3rd top on my 06 TJ. For me tops have lasted 5 years before they start to tear. The first two tops were factory OEM tops and were sometimes difficult to put up. Mostly above the doors where you have to put that tabs in. This new top is much more pliable and goes up with little effort. My reasons for giving it 4 stars instead of 5 are: . For some reason the drivers side window zipper is on the window pane and the the passenger side is on the soft top (like my other two tops). This made it difficult to get the drivers side window to zip in.. The other thing that they messed up on is the rear window elastic straps that hold the window when it's rolled up. For some reason, they made the strap two pieces with a snap. Unfortunately, the snap won't stay snapped with the window rolled up. I made my own straps with non elastic nylon and velcro. The velcro stays tight and using non elastic, the straps won't sag over time. Overall, I love my new top. And have since switched out my gray fender flares to match the black top.
i just installed this top after buying it almost two years ago,, everything went great , but the drivers side quarter window zipper is missing some teeth. it does look good though.
I've had two of these tops. Pros: Fits great, looks great. Cons: Zippers will break in three years and you'll need a replacement. If you're lucky they will break right before the warranty expires.
