Reviews for aFe Power 51-76204 Momentum GT Air Intake with Pro Dry S Filter for 12-18 Jeep Wrangler JK with 3.6L
Had aFe intake on my Tundra, loved it, easy install, improved HP, fuel efficiency, etc. 'We'll see how it does on my JK
Expected mpg help it will provide.
Had this item installed in about an hour. Total plug and play installation with great instructions. Gives the Jeep a nice throaty growl when you hit the accelerator. Noticed a slight mpg increase on long highway trips.
Great sound, and I also can feel the difference in the engine performance.
Just installed this intake on my 2013 JKU with a 2.5" lift, 35" tires, and 3:73 gearing. I can tell an increase of horsepower hen driving. Less down shifting required on the highway. Here is what i got so far:
Stock intake with a chip:15MPG city and 17MPG Highway
AFE Intake and chip: 18.2MPG City and 21.6 Highway.
Awesome intake system
I have a 2016 JK 2-door Sport S and installed this in less than a hour. I also have a throttle body spacer, Genesis dual battery kit, Teraflex 1.5" front 1.0" rear lift w/ quick disconnect swaybar link kit, Smittybilt winch, Barricade front bumper, Smittybilt rear bumper, Gobi Stealth roof rack, sPOD and a set of Cooper All-Terrain 255/75-R17 tires on it, factory 3.21 gearing. I really noticed a huge hit on my Highway MPG when I lifted the Jeep and added the new tires. I'm hoping that I get an increase in MPG with this kit but it's too early to tell because it's 17 degrees F and I'm running on winter gas. I expect to get back to the factory MPG numbers and, hopefully, can update you on that on a later date.
As for the install: I didn't even open the instructions. It's dead simple to install and very well engineered. The only thing I didn't like was the PCV hose that is provided. They could've done a better job that a straight hose. I'll replace it, later, when I find an OEM hose with a slight angle to it. The straight hose works okay but I can do better than that.
Sound wise: Driving at part throttle it sounds pretty much the same. Typical acceleration from a stop gives you a hint that something has changed. It's a subtle rumble but nice and smooth. Hard acceleration from a stop increases the sound level but in a every nice way. Very progressive increase but not obnoxious. Similar to a sports-car sound.
Performance: I was surprised at the extra kick when I floored it from a 45 MPH roll. If I can update my comments in a few months, I'll report some MPG numbers. Most of my driving is 25% city, 50% country roads, 20% highway and 5% off-road.
I have a 2012 JKU W/3.5 AEV LIFT AND 35s. The aFe cold air intake added considerable power off the line and has great sound. 1st - 3rd gear pushes the 35s like I was running stock again. However, no change to 4th - 6th gear and highway driving. Worth the purchase......
