Reviews for Bestop Sunrider for Hardtop for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
The BEST option that we have installed on our jeep.
Great top. Relatively quiet, and easy to install. Operation is very simple
LOVE, LOVE LOVE!!!!!
I love this!!!! I am so sorry I waited as long as I did to order one. Being kinda short and having back issues, I could never take off my freedom tops by myself. This thing takes 1 minute and no effort at all. LOVE LOVE LOVE!! Would definitely recommend!!!
I love the top it works great. Easy install took about 45min. With 2 people. Best to have 2 nd person to help with back 2 bolts to help for the bolts don’t seem to be quite long enough. Got it on first time and no leaks. Fits great and looks great too!
First top arrived damaged from the shipping carrier and Quadratec shipped a new one immediately. The 2nd top arrived in good condition two business days later. Everything with the installation went well except the two small screws on the side door rails. I finally got them to thread to a point, but never fully threaded all the way on either side. That was a major PITA and took the most time. In the end, top fits great, no water leaks and air noise is minimal IMO. I’ll try to keep working with the 2 problem screws and see if I can get them to thread fully, but something is not right as I’ve read this is a problem in several reviews. Maybe time for a slight redesign to improve the installation?
Love this top! Best addition to the Jeep I've done.
However, most of the reviews on the installation are valid; Bestop needs to re-think the bolt lengths. I couldn't get any of the 4 knob bolts to start, until I made sure the plastic "arms" of the mounting rail were under the roll bar padding, then the bolts went in easily. One of the threaded nuts fell out of the plastic housing, but didn't spin when re-inserted. Using a long blade phillips screw driver to align the holes helped tremendously with getting the bolts started.
I'm very happy to say that, despite doing nothing to the rear seal after install, through several very hard rains, and driving in some heavy down pours, the top is leak free!
Coupling the Sunrider with the Retractable Shade, and pulling the uppers off my half doors, gives me the best open air driving experience possible. Plus, with the uppers stored in the back, I am less than 2 minutes from fully open to weather tight.
If you're on the fence about getting one of these, I would encourage you to "just do it!" It's well worth every penny.
Installed mine in June of 17, no leaks. Easy installation, will leave the sunrider top on all year round.
I just finish installing this thing. I think it is a a grate, and useful addition to my jeep. easy to install and it looks so great. Take a look at the pictures I post. One thing... after you install the left and right rails you need to seat the top on place end latch it in place, then just then install the mushroom knobs after releasing the front latches. do not tighten the mushrooms knobs yet, then do the rest as noted in the installation instructions.
Bought this a few months back, a little leaking but not bad. 2 weeks ago it started to leak a lot. Had some friends over did a water test and we found the water was coming in from the back end, not the sides as I had thought. The gasket that lines that back edge had popped up, we pushed it back down repeated the water test and no leaks at all! It has rained hard the past few days since and no leaks at all - whew! I love the ability to pop it open quickly. I will check to make sure that gasket stays in place. Also, I'll post on the Defender roof rack as well - but this product works with the Sunrider, does not make contact when the Sunrider is open.
