Reviews for Smittybilt SB98510 X2O-10 Comp Gen2 Winch with Synthetic Line
Good looking winch so far, more compact then the quadratec 9500 stealth but apparently is 10000 lbs pulling power. Liked quadratec more due to ease of getting hook off. Only reason I switched winch was with XRC Gen 2 bumper quadratec winch was so big I could not use cover to protect it from elements. Smittybilt winch works good so far with cover but only 80 MPH speedlimit winds with 40-50 mph wind gusts (sometimes) will tell if it stays on. Smittybilt says it’s waterproof not sure if quadratec is, so I don’t need the cover except to protect synthetic line from elements. The Smittybilt has a nice looking hook but I’m using factor 55 ProLink E instead, now I’m having to cut off hook (easiest way then unthreading the rope) almost cut my rope trying to figure it out. Most people want to put in their own nicer attachment that has less chance of breaking/falling off with that hook restraint tab that always breaks. Overall happy with Smittybilt winch, quadratec sent Smittybilt winch before I shipped back the other winch which made me happy I didn’t have to wait till I returned their winch. However I forgot to include hardware for the winch I sent back.
Very well designed product with nice features. I have used this twice since installing and the winch works very well. As always Quadratec has great shipping and customer service.
Installation was straightforward. Be advised the instructions that come with it are basic. Mostly focus on wiring the winch connections on the winch itself. As with most of my complaints with Smittybilt items their instructions leave a lot to be desired. Products work for their intended purpose but your have to have some experience in installing their items as the instructions are lacking.
Also the Clevis hook on the synthetic line is not removable. I had purchased a Factor 55 item to use instead but was unable to install it since the book doesn't come off.
