Reviews for AIRAID Cold Air Dam Intake for 12-18 Jeep Wrangler JK with 3.6L
Look a little more time to install then i thought it would, but it was easy enough and well made
The install was very easy. Directions weren't to bad. Only bad thing was they forgot to give me my AirAid Decal for my tube!
Great product easy install helped my economy out a little
most highly recommend. Though this intake may not have a cool looking polished tube, or a Hot Rod looking partially exposed filter, what sets this system far above the rest is it will certainly keep water out of your engine during a down pour.
Simple installation. Would recommend.
Minus 1-star for having to fabricate the existing airbox some. Was not difficult at all, just not a simple plug and play. Does create a snug fitting all the way around. For anyone wondering, I also purchased the Mishimoto Coolant filter, and was able to get both products in no problem. The box and tubing is massive, so I assume that gets more air. I had a K&N drop in filter and the Airaid Throttle Body spacer prior to this swap and did not see much change in performance or MPG. I averaged about 13.8 MPG. I have had this on near a year and have been around 15.1 MPG. No extra obnoxious sounds more than what my aFe Scorpion exhaust already makes. I did also but the pre-filter just because I did not want to have to clean it as much. I would buy again.
Great product. Installation involves some cutting and drilling out of stock rivets. Simple install with the right tools.
Airaid makes some good products but this one could’ve been thought out better: 1) include a snorkel with the kit or redesign it to allow a simple bolt on of the stock unit rather than permanently modifying your stock box, 2) shave a bit of width and height off the air box so you are able to open your fuse box without having to remove the fuse box cover lid (or removing the airbox itself to be able to open the fuse box lid) and so you don’t get contact with the hood which will scratch the paint or eventually wear a hole through the hood pad and 3) a clear plastic cover over the filter box would save some time in checking the filter without having to pull the lid. Functions nicely when on but be sure to use lots of silicone to waterproof the snorkel / air box joint if you are going to use a snorkel as there are gaps. When mounted almost stock quiet with the aluminium lid in place - you will hear it a bit when you get on it but the wife probably won’t notice. With the lid off you it will be noticeable in the cab when you get on it. Got a great deal on mine but not sure I will keep it on due to the fuse box issue. Product is nicely made.
