Reviews for Mountain Off-Road Hide-A-Step for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
I just lifted my Jeep Rubicon 4” and changed to 35" tires. I am 5’7" tall. I purchased this step prior to doing the lift with the anticipated issues of getting easily in and out of the Jeep after the lift. It was the right decision. The step makes it much easier for a shorter person to get in and out of the Jeep. If you are much taller then maybe wait to see if you need the step. If you are shorter, don’t wait. Get the step before you get the lift. The install was easy. If it is for a Rubicon, it involves removing two nuts and one bolt. Like others have said, you will need a couple small plastic ties (auto parts store) or a piece of wire. You will need this to close the spring loaded base to make the install possible. Once you put the base in, you reattach the the bolt and two nuts. You then attach the step (easily) and you are done. It took me about thirty minutes. I am going to order a second one for the passenger side. I should be able to do it in fifteen minutes now. They are making a good profit on the step but it is deftly worth the cost if you have a high lift.
Great step..A little tricky to install .
Really great addition - my wife couldn't be happier, since she is now easily able to step up into her seat. The black surface nicely matches my JKUR's rock rails.
Installation is a bit tricky on a JKUR, and in order to slip the mount under the existing rock rail attachment bracket I found that I had to disassemble the two pieces that have the spring between them by removing the "axle" that holds them together. Otherwise there isn't enough clearance, or maybe just enough but compressing that spring would be too difficult (and possibly painful!). Everything installed easily after that, and the instructions are clear. Putting the two spring-loaded pieces back together in this modified assembly sequence is not difficult. From the instructions I am guessing that taking apart the two spring-loaded pieces would not be necessary on a non-Rubicon.
Love these. Installs right with my rock rails and they are very discreet looking. I wear heels and dresses to work and had to use my grab handle to muscle my way into my seat. With these I can step right in without worrying about giving anyone a show. The grip is great... never one slip even when it is wet out. Lastly, they are smooth to pull down and step on. Again with heels on, I have not once scuffed the toe.
Very useful if you have a rock rail, lift and large tires.
Very nice

I really like this step. I had one on the passenger side because my short wife needed a little boost to get in. Now, my daughter drives this Jeep too and she needed a little boost so I put one on the driver side. Since I already installed one, install on this one took about 20 minutes because I figured out a few tricks.
Step works great - came back to buy a second one for the passenger side. Used a zip tie to hold the spring back while installing. Also discovered it was way easier to remove the rail, bolt on the step, then put the rail back on. A nice, fairly inexpensive way to help short people get in a lifted jeep. :)
Installed these today, works like expected. A tip on install them. The spring side is difficult to install with the Rock Rails of the Rubi. Need to fold the spring, I took some large gauge wire and loop it through the pin holes. I folded the spring and twisted the wire tight to keep the spring folded. Need to keep an eye that the wire does not break, but it made the install so much easier against the frame.
