Reviews for Daystar KJ09144BK Tailgate Bump Stops for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
GOOD QUALITY
Great fit, easy to trim. Especially when you get bigger tires and rims. You will need them.
No idea what other reviewers are saying, so far no problems with these. I have after market HD tailgate hinges with tailgate reinforcement bracket, went to put the OEM bump stops on and as I was pushing and twisting it on the nub literally sawed off, bought another and it worked. Recently I bought wheel spacers that turn JK studs into JL studs, wanted same pattern on spare tire, so I bought a 5th wheel spacer, old OEM didn’t work any longer as the wheel spacer is 1.5”. These twisted in with no issues and when they were on it was still tight enough to not just spin around. Sizing was not an issue because I have a reinforcement bracket I could just put the twist nub on top of it and get an idea (hard to do I’m sure if mounting in the tailgate, but if I had to do that, I would use a cool new device called a measuring tape), cut off one section, put spare tire on and hand tightened the lugs. Perfectly flush with tire, and as I torqued the lug nuts to 60ft lbs it compressed it a little more and the next cutting groove compressed on one side making it more snug. It is foam but it’s high density foam (I compressed them by hand and it does absorb a lot, I see no issues of it being able to absorb tire wiggle), of course if you bend it in half it’s going to break, it’s not meant to be bent in half it’s meant to compress. Looks really good, time will tell how long these will last but so far so good.
Very nice. Able to customize to my needs. Quited the small rattle from tire carrier. Highly recommend.
very nice shave to fit works great
Worked as described, easy to install and cut to fit for my 33" tires mounted with Synergy Spare Tire Relocation Bracket
These are good extensions for mounting big tires on the JK's. Be careful with the mounting tip because on my JK, the tip needed to be shaved down some to fit into the mounting hole in the rear door.
So far so good. Saw some really bad reviews of these things on other sites, but took a chance.
Wish I had bought these 8 years ago.
Material is definitely soft and will compress...so I added 1/2 inch to my measurement of the distance between the vehicle and the spare tire. Cut the bump stops appropriately. Install was a little challenge to get them to properly "screw" into the vehicle. This is not really a threaded hole, so used a small flat head screw driver to get the ridges successfully into the vehicle. Once installed the shakes and rattles slowed incredibly. Only time I have serious noise now is over railroad tracks.
Simple install, simple to trim to proper length. They were exactly what was needed - liked the simplicity.
Seem to work well
