Reviews for Quadratec RES-Q Teton Series Winch
The winch mechanically is amazing. My only complain is that after 2 winters in North East Ohio, the aluminum fins and logo have completely started to erode away. It is now all silver and looks rough.
I think the winch works well. The instructions were terrible. When you purchase this winch you'll need to purchase a mounting plate, but nowhere does it tell you that. I battled for 6 hours to install it.
I bought the 10,000 K winch with synthetic rope for my TJ about a year ago and I've used it several times for getting myself unstuck on the trails. So far I'm overall happy with the winch, but my biggest complaint is the remote. It eats batteries like they are cheerios even though I make sure to turn the remote off after each use. I'm also not a fan of having to take the remote apart exposing all the wires and circuit board just to change a battery. It would be nice to see the remote get a much needed upgrade with either a dedicated battery compartment and access panel or even better, a USB style charger port so we can charge the remote from the vehicle.
Winch itself has worked well, but only wirelessly for me, which unfortunately won’t work too well from the driver’s seat. Wired connection was very loose on mine and never functioned. Better deal than a warn, but wish the wired connection worked.
When you place the winch in freespool and try to pull the line out it is extremely hard to get the drum to turn. You better be pretty freaking strong. Otherwise you have to engage it and use the controller to unspool the line. Also, this winch is extremely loud and calling it a Stealth Winch is just funny. Outside of those two annoyances the winch seems to work just fine. I'm hoping it is just stiff because it needs to be broken in.
Great winch at a great price. THE SLOWEST shipping I've encountered in years. Quadratec is located in PA. I'm in OK. It took ten days to get a winch halfway across the country via UPS. Really ? I need to order a roof rack next, and I won't be ordering from Quadratec simply because I don't want to wait forever for it to arrive.
I'm sure Quadratec's response will be nothing, or some B.S. corporate answer about how this or that affects shipping times. Sorry Quadratec, we aren't dummies, we the people know how long it takes to ship something across the US.
This is a great winch but the packaging is trash. The first one showed up looking like it was rolled down the side of a mountain. Quadratec overnighted a replacement and it was in slightly better condition. It had gouges in the top from where the styrofoam packaging fell apart and allowed the fairlead to hit it in transit. Over all though this would definitely be a five star review if the packaging was better.
Got this. Installed. Got the recall notice later. Did everything I was supposed to for return shipping, etc. Waited. Never got the return box or any communication. Called, emailed, was assured that I would receive a box/label, etc. Never did.
Per their warning, I didn't feel safe with it on the Jeep. Ended up getting one from Harbor Freight to replace it. Haven't had time to switch them out, as my "faux wife" of 12 years informed me she no longer wants to be together (menopausal meltdown.) So, I've been preparing to move to a much smaller house with a MUCH smaller garage.
I understand that there was a lot going on during that timeframe with COVID. But, Quadratec, you really dropped the ball on this one. I've spent a lot of $ at Quadratec over the years...heck, I even placed an order today. But, admittedly, I was reluctant...being that I was out the cost of a premium winch.
If they weren't going to follow through their recall campaign, they should've at least reimbursed people.
Quadratec really dropped the ball on this one.
I actually placed a small order today. But, it may be my last, as this leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. It actually pisses me off when I see the latest adds for this winch...lack of communication and follow-up on Quadratec's part.
So disappointed...
I purchased a Q10000I STEALTH WINCH last August 2019 and used it one time. The one time it worked it was great. However, I was performing equipment checks for an upcoming trip where a winch is highly recommended and it won't even power up. I should have spent the extra money on a Warn.
Bought Winch and bumper package not quite a year ago. Spooled out and rewound line after installation. Used first and once this summer pulling a light weight green house on big rubber tire castors 25' on a level grade by wireless remote, worked good. tried wireless again a month later and would not pair. tried to pair again and now the red light power button will not even light up.
Ok, been a happy customer for many years so I contacted them. It took almost a month to get back to me ( covid I'm sure) and after several emails to get my order number they tell me it's resolved!
Problem is, no one has said anything about the problem.
Should have stuck with Warn I guess...
