Reviews for Oracle Lighting 5769-123 LED Projector Headlights with DRL and Turn Signal for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
I question the authenticity of this statement "DOT/SAE compliant". These headlights lack a horizon and we get flashed by most drivers because they simply are NICE AND BRIGHT.
I purchased J.W. Speaker Model 8700 Evolution J2 Series 7" LED Headlight Pair for Jeep Wrangler JK in the past and they get a 5 star review.
Simple install, looks and works great,
CON: I ordered 2 of Oracle Lighting 5851-504 Switchback Turn Signal Y Splitter Adapter for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK and left side started hyperflashing after 5 blinks, I swapped the y splitters and the right side started hyperflashing. So obviously they sent me a bad one.
Same complaint as everyone else, I made a fat O-ring out of some skinny rubber tubing and that fills in the space for the retainer ring so that they don't shake.
They look awesome though, and they are wayyyyy better than the OEM headlights.
Pros
Easy to install (approximately 15 minutes), wiring is absolutely plug and play with the Oracle Lighting 5851-504 Switchback Turn Signal Splitter Adapter (you'll need 2, one for each light).
Cons
Like most reviews state, these are not as thick as the OEM unit, so the retaining ring can't apply the same compressive force to hold them securely in place as an OEM unit. One was barely acceptable (didn't rattle, but you could spin it slightly with little effort, so it's going to rattle at some point). The other will need material place either behind the retaining ring or behind the Oracle unit (it rattles, there's no compressive force applied with the retaining ring completely snugged down).
The other minor design flaw is the wiring adapter harness doesn't completely seat at the Oracle headlight to harness connection leaving an ever so slight gap which will allow the prongs to be exposed to the elements. I'll probably apply some shrink tube and sealant to make it water tight.
Bright, easy to install. I would give them 5 stars but for the need to modify the retaining ring to prevent the lights from shaking. These lights are not as deep as OEM lights, so even with the retainer screwed tight the lights move a little.
MOD: I made rings of paracord 550 and jammed them into the little edge of the retainers. Worked great. I will probably replace the paracord with rubber screen spline to prevent moisture problems.
Oracle should consider making the lip of the lights thicker or adding an o-ring to the kit.
Install was pretty easy after figuring out the Y adapter harness. I also would recommend a couple zip ties to keep the new wires in place. So far the only complaint I have is they don't fit as snug as the OEM lights.
Their instructions are mostly useless except for general guidance. On a JK, no you do not need to splice any wires like the instructions states, everything is plug and play. Highly recommend getting one side plugged in then turn on your Jeep and test lights and blinkers. After that screw the one side in and repeat.
On the blinkers, there's a tab on the top, missed that at first when pulling then apart...
Have been very impressed with these lights for the 4 months I had them, but one started getting a ton of moisture in it. With one call to Quadratec, they are sending me a replacement, so other than getting moisture inside the lense, I've been overly happy with how much freaking light these things put out. Install was very easy, but make sure to buy 2 of the Y adapters when getting these to insure a quick plug and play install. A Little worried about moisture potential down the road, but hopefully these continue to do what they do as I've been overly happy with them. The halo adds a cool affect the front of the Jeep when using as daytime running lights.
I just purchased these lights and installed them yesterday. Wonderful improvement compared to OEM! After installing them they seemed to rattle around inside the housing rings a bit so I used a little insulation foam to help hold them steady inside the rings. This new item actually comes with a set of switchback y-adapters in the box. No need to purchase Item 5851-504.
The installation wiring instructions don’t show what to do with the Halo wires if you don’t buy the Colorshift controller. The red halo wire connected to 12V+ turns on the white halo. The yellow wire to 12V+(turn signal) changes the halo to yellow when using turn signal.
Lights work well but the HALO light has caused problems mainly due to the adapter
