Oracle Lighting LED Projector Headlights with DRL and Turn Signal Reviews
I really like these headlights and wanted to share some notes from my installation. I purchased these lights with the optional Y-harnesses.
Daytime Running Lights (DRL) - the DRL works as expected; however, there is programming required and there are some limitations. I used the JScan app to program the DRL to turn on my turn signals, which also illuminates the amber halo in the Oracle headlights. I contacted Oracle and they confirmed that this is working as expected. I had hoped that the white light halo would illuminate for the DRL, but it looks like custom wiring would be required to make that happen, and the halos would likely be illuminated any time accessory power is applied (there are several YouTube videos to help understand how to wire it up). That said, I am happy with the amber halos for my DRL. I think it looks pretty cool.
Headlight fits loosely - As many others have stated, these headlights don't fit snugly in the headlight housing. To rectify the problem, I purchased some 0.125" screen door spline (available at most home improvement/hardware stores). I placed the screen spline into the headlight retainers around the perimeter. The screen spline fits well enough that it didn't fall out when mounting the headlights, but you may decide to use a small amount of adhesive/silicone/etc to keep the screen spline in place. After installing with the screen spline, the headlights fit perfectly.
Condensation inside headlight - After my first nighttime test drive, upon arriving home, I noticed a small misting of condensation inside the headlight assembly. I live in a humid area, so I assumed this would be expected. I contacted Oracle to confirm that a small amount of misting is expected, but if I discovered anything more than misting (droplets, water accumulations) I should contact Oracle for warranty support.
Overall, I am pleased with the headlights. I think the price is about right for my needs. The light pattern is good. I like the features. Support from Oracle was great.
I had a pair of the JW Speaker 8700 Evolution on a JK, one had a short within a few months which caused it to flicker on/off. I had to tape the wires a certain way to stop the flickering. The other side had one LED turning yellow and eventually quit all together. I didn't get 2 years out of them. Instead of paying premium price, I went with these. The look and pattern is the same but with a much better halo and the halo with the parking lights/turn signal is very cool. And I paid half the price vs the JWs. It's easy to aim the lights down a bit, they are very bright. I purchased 2 Y adapters and they came in the same box as the headlights. Installation was easy, took about 15 minutes, 100% plug and play with a JK. As others have said, the lights are a little smaller than the stock, adding something to the inside of the stock mounting bracket will be needed for a tight fit, minor inconvenience. If you have zero experience with taking the grill off and switching headlights, lots of videos on the net with instructions. We will see how they hold up, I just installed them yesterday but everything is great on day 2. I will post pics soon.
Looks great
