Reviews for BOLT 7032303 Hood Lock for 18-22 Jeep Wrangler JL and Gladiator JT
start out with the proper tools, easy to install
Easy to install (be sure you use a good rivet too as the rivets used are 1/4" Key coding was easy and full proof. Grill section that came with it is identical to OEM can't tell the difference - and of course works great and secure.
Easy to install
Lock was very easy to install, key works perfect. Took about 15 mins to install. Highly recommend
Very easy to key. Easy install took about an hour. Make sure that the heavy duty rivet gun you use has plenty of leverage as the supplied rivets are steel.
Great product. Nice fit-all replacement fasteners included. Could not completely remove grill due to a winch installed which made it harder (but not impossible) to change out the grill insert.
Better price than Mopar version. Easier one-turn key setting without messing with tumblers like the Mopar version. No brainer purchase.
Easy to install - great fit and piece of mind.
Looks OEM, easy to install and keys to OEM FOB without manual coding. Looks great on my 19 JLU.
Just a heads-up to others, the rivets included in the parts are STEEL rivets. As such, most single-handed riveting tools will not set them. I went to Lowe's in search of a larger riveting tool, only to learn that I had the largest one they sell. I finally found a larger two-handed riveter at a local Harbor Freight store and it worked just fine for the installation.
RECOMMENDATION: Being a locksmith, I noticed that the internals of the key mechanism were exposed at certain points of the key cylinder rotation. As such, I wrapped a couple of layers of Scotch 33 Electrical Tape around the key cylinder body to cover the two holes, through which I could actually see the springs for the lock tumblers.
As designed, I cannot see how this will not eventually acquire dirt/mud inside and lead to a lock failure. On the outside of the the black electrical tape, I also put a 1" piece of foam pipe insulation to help insure the tape always stays in-place, on those high-heat summer days.(i.e. around the outside of the lock cylinder casing, atop the black tape)
Other than that single caveat, it seems to be a hefty, well-built product that should last for years.
