Reviews for BOLT 7032303 Hood Lock for 18-22 Jeep Wrangler JL and Gladiator JT
Easy install, could use nuts & bolts if you didn’t want to purchase a rivet gun. Overall you’ll feel a bit better now that the hood locks.
Very easy to install. Took about 30 mins total. There are a ton of online tutorials that walk you through each step. You will need T20 torx bit and heavy duty rivet gun. So much easier to code to your key than the Mopar version. The actual manufacturer on the Bolt website is backordered due to Covid so Quadratec made sure they had stock before I pulled the trigger.
Just a tip about the rivets. The rivets supplied are 1/4", and the typical pop rivet tool sold in stores will only handle up to 3/16". At first I was going to just use bolts, but looking at how the lock installs, these are blind holes, which would be difficult to do with bolts (near impossible to get a wrench in the interior space). But rivets are designed to go in blind holes.
I did not have a rivet tool, and like several other reviewers, I did not want to spend a lot, so went to HFT. A word to the wise: if you search on "rivet tool" on Harbor Freight site, you will not find the heavy duty model. You have to search on "Riveter". It is a two-handed job, and worked very well on this install. $16 with the ubiquitous 20% coupon. HFT SKUs 66422, 41291. Not sure which one I got.
Oh, and the lock works great. Have to cut out part of the grille insert to use on a JT.
Just bought a cheap Harbor Freight heavy duty hand riveter to get this installed. Went on without any issues and setting the key for the lock was super easy with no problems. Great product and easier (and cheaper) than the official OEM one.
super easy install and done in less than 20 mins? Looks great and fits perfectly.
The pop rivets were pretty big and took a little muscle but no issues at all.
Easy 20 minute install and works great. Everything included except tools. Make sure you have a heavy duty long handle riveter handy - the rivets are stout.
Just finished installing my Bolt hood lock. Took about 20 minutes start to finish. Works great and looks even better. Hardly noticable at all. Great peace of mind when I leave the Jeep at the trailheads when I'm out hunting. Don't have to worry if my batteries will be gone when I return.
I just installed this hood lock yesterday. It was very easy to do. I would suggest not using the rivets that are included. I used screws nuts and lock washers. In the box new clips were included but I reused the originals I now I have spares.
Works as advertised. Make sure you have a heavy duty rivet gun to put the 4 rivets in! Otherwise, it was very easy, and took about 45 minutes. Keyed to my key without issue. Seems very secure. Grill inserts are a nice touch to make it look great. They fit perfectly into the backside of the grill assembly.
Great product at half the cost of a mopar hood lock. Easy install with detailed instructions. Just need a pair for heavy duty river gun to anchor the lock otherwise everything was straight forward install and looks awesome!!
