Reviews for Rough Country Cold Air Intake System for 07-11 Jeep Wrangler JK with 3.8L Engine
Easy to install, sounds great
Well made. Straightforward install.
Revs easier to high RPM. Seems to have better power. Sounds great. Initial MPG readings indicate an increase.
Works as expected. Install was straight forward and easy enough. My 2007 JKU seems a little more sporty now. I have not tested MPG changes but I have more get up and go power for sure.
My Jeep: 2007 JKU with 193,000 miles
Overall impression: The design, fit, and finish is poor. The isolation compartment is open to the engine bay and made of metal. I hooked up my Super Chips and IAT (intake air temperature) is greater than with the stock box. HOWEVER, it definitely is less restrictive than the stock air box, sounds better, noticed a slight increase in throttle response, and after driving only 5 miles in the city (stop-n-go) my MPG is beginning to improve - even though I was accelerating pretty hard to hear the new roar of the intake. Looking forward to taking my next road trip to see if MPG improves.
easy to install
Easy in , HP out, sounds like its got a pair .
I had to double check the invoice to make sure I received the correct item. Apparently it is correct but doesn't fit well. With the box properly installed the tab located on the intake tube that is supposed to be affixed to the isolater is a full inch back from where it would have to be in order for it to be connected. The picture also shows the filter nestled close to the box while I have a 2 inch gap and with the access hole being a couple inches in diameter larger than the intake tube it allows all the hot air from the engine access to the filter which is counter productive to a cold air intake system. The hole that accepts the grommet for the air temperature sensor is so large there is a visible gap that will allow dust and debris direct access into your throttle body and thus cylinders which is counter productive to an air filtration system. I fabricated items to correct correct these multiple defects and the result is a much better aspirated engine that sounds good and accelerates quicker. I dorecommend a cold air intake however would not recommend using this system as it is and would choose a different manufacturer if I were to do it again.
